Can I ask what specific pain points you have with Gitlab CI? I've been using it extensively the last couple of years and all in all it's been a pretty smooth experience!
Re:German state moving 30k PCs to LibreOffice on Thursday April 04, 2024 @09:12AM (#39929974)
Is Office365 really down that often? I'm fortunate enough to not have to use it but I don't hear any complaints from my colleagues that do.
NYC is the first city I think of when reading the word "overpopulation"
Holy ** - this explains a lot of the counterfeits I've received over the years.

I haven't watched the US version but I am reminded of Stephen Fry's explanation of the differences between US and UK comedians[0]. Taskmaster needs contestants willing to embarrass themselves.

Re:Tracking Covid-19 variant B.1.1.529 on Friday November 26, 2021 @09:53AM (#29350708)
I believe the theory is that since this variant has so many mutations, it evolved over quite some time within a single host with a lowered immune response. Makes sense that this would happen in an area with high HIV prevalence.
They never managed to cultivate it, and apparently it refused to grow anywhere else but that region in modern-day Tunisia.

Why would you want to use the toilet brush to clean the *outside* of your toilet? I struggle to make sense of this product
Re:GPT-J-6B: 6B JAX-Based Transformer on Wednesday June 09, 2021 @05:59AM (#27446152)
That makes a lot of sense. I played around with it in German and Italian and the results often times read like they were google translated from English. So there must be lots of auto-translated content from spam sites in the corpus, I guess.
Funnily enough, this passage is generally considered a later addition to the Gospel of John: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_and_the_woman_taken_in_a...
Re:Does Amazon make more from ads than AWS? on Sunday March 28, 2021 @08:02AM (#26609602)
That is a sadly apt metaphor
That's a bold claim. Any sources to back it up?
That's patently false. The Austrian judiciary is divided into general courts and courts of public law. The "Oberster Gerichtshof" is not "below" the supreme court, it's the highest court of a different branch.
From a tracking perspective, I'd assume a Fire TV stick is even worse than any TV OS. It's Amazon after all!
Re:Tips for Shipping Data Products Fast on Thursday March 04, 2021 @01:10PM (#26345883)
AI is simultaneously over-hyped and a game-changer. To paraphrase a famous Marketing quip, the problem is that you need to be a domain expert as well as an ML expert in order to judge which are the over-hyped parts.

As a consultant specializing in building Data Science teams, I've been shouting this idea that you can only build AI products on top of a robust data pipeline and, more importantly, culture, from the roof-tops for years. Monica Rogati's formulization of it, the "AI hierarchy of needs"[0] helps a lot to instill a mental image in managers.

Last time I looked into this, React and D3 didn't really work together, since D3 manipulates the DOM and React has its own Shadow DOM. Has this changed?
You could pay someone else to take the tests for you. Now I wonder how widespread that is.

Fashionnova spend over 10% of their _revenue_ on Facebook Ads according to this. Is that even realistic?
Re:Block Facebook Servers on Wednesday February 10, 2021 @04:18PM (#26094962)
Not necessarily true, since regulations are EU law that is immediately enforceable in member states, and are not generally transposed into state law.
Re:Block Facebook Servers on Wednesday February 10, 2021 @04:17PM (#26094932)
GDPR directly doesn't apply to the UK anymore (except for organisations that handle data of EU citizen, of course) but the UK chose to enact the GDPR into UK law via the Data Protection Law of 2018, which is aptly dubbed "UK GDPR".
You won't win if you pick the median since by definition someone else has already picked that number.
