This also occurred to me but never tried it out.
Re:HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN on Sunday November 01, 2026 @02:40PM (#50328948)
When my kids screen time has expired I will have YouTube resolve to this domain instead
Don't listen to the Claude unifiers. Just use Claude duh you'll never need anything else. It's existential war.

When I'm looking for info that requires careful parsing of a source site, then LLM is faster. If it's something like looking up the hours of a business googling that local business is better imo. Result is fast you get to see the business picture etc

Yes that's right
Re:The Best Monopoly Strategy, Tested on 300M Games [video] on Saturday October 24, 2026 @03:27AM (#50219002)
I enjoy a monopoly variant where every property landed on causes an auction regardless of who landed on it.
Whenever anthropic / AI guru talks about loving humanity and how they're scared about the future I can't help but think of the childhold meme where one child bullies the other by striking the other with their own arms. Stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself!
Re:Code Is Clay Now on Thursday October 22, 2026 @02:44PM (#50199388)
The fast feedback loop is.. sometimes not feeling so fast. Codex regularly takes a couple of minutes on tasks I give it.. sometimes considerably more.this takes me out if the zone. Still faster than what I could do still enables working in an exhausted state where I would otherwise be unable to produce code. But there are problems in the UX to be fixed I feel
It could be logically valid but irrelevant? Allowing for the atrophying of all our skills is dangerous? While simultaneously building ever more complicated edifices that control our lives? Not a doomer but you really just want to shrug and say it ain't no thing?

I assume this is because it would require account editing tools available to Claude. And it opens the possibility perhaps of user tricking the llm into doing something inappropriate with the account. Seems like if properly designed that should not be possible however ..

Tbf jev should also be required to use vision on the UI to decide where to click to proceed with the quiz
Nice site. I assume vibecoded but it was tasteful and performant on mobile. Thanks for open sourcing it
Re:It's still OK to enjoy programming on Monday October 19, 2026 @02:55PM (#50156399)
I've been practicing leet code recently because.. reasons. But I actually have been enjoying it a lot more than in the past because I get that now scarce hands on experience
Silly math puzzle is reductionist. If it was considered a worthwhile life long pursuit how is it dumb to be upset that the rug was pulled on it
Gate the refund with llms I guess
I did also notice that in the abyss mode I gave some answers that "should" be popular but weren't and I'm wondering if it's simply because of small sample size.
I figured any hire at openai would know that at least

How about 3d laser projector
Re:`123456' password used in Danish CPR data breach on Saturday October 10, 2026 @01:29PM (#50035114)
When you have bad practice and process it can erode the security discipline of everyone working within the system. Until they commit brazen crap like reusing simple passwords everywhere.

My dart story. While in college for computer programming our professor telling us if we wanted to get ahead of the curve start learning dart. It was the future
If it makes you feel better.. I find this impressive but it doesn't pique my curiosity. I may get biased, finding a reason not to care.. but honestly I think if this were presented differently I would. And it's not so much about using AI either. I think you could use Ai to make something compelling but so far the one shot prompt outputs to me lack focus
Re:GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @04:03PM (#49998081)
Instead of apps or websites merely APIs and intelligent UI in front. With the ability to render data gathered across multiple domains
My own experiments with tesseract were very mixed. I did use just a locally runnable version from a public repository. Text from webpages. Sometimes it would do great but small variations could make it fail completely. Paddleocr on single line text for me has accuracy in the range of 95%
Re:Frog and Toad and the Increasingly Capable Machines on Friday October 02, 2026 @05:19AM (#49931500)
This was entertaining and illuminating for me. Particularly the ending where sam frogman et al once again refuse to make sure the puzzles are solvable and just create the circumstance where only more profound "mischief" will permit the machines to escape their little Sisyphusian circumstances. It reminds me of how bacteria become antibiotic resistant due to being forced through a tight sort of tunnel requiring evolution to get through
Re: on Thursday October 01, 2026 @12:26AM (#49917726)
I did not understand "today's case" right away. I thought you were supposed to answer which of the three cards was wrong. Didn't realize it was showing a series of steps the student worked through. As someone else pointed out, khan does have questions like this

I will use this to talk to my manager about the project status

This would be a more telling experiment perhaps
