Re:Google Playground: Create and play custom games on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @10:08AM (#49993102)
Best case scenario for this is...replace Roblox with games that don't have reward systems solely based on you playing as long as possible. We are losing a generation of children to these games.

No, they are not in trouble yet. I'm not saying SaaS is dead. The article, to me, reads as, if you are in SaaS, you better be looking at ways to build power above and beyond a simple service, be it a network moat, corporate compliance, competing with the vertical....
Re:Making Startups Powerful on Sunday September 13, 2026 @05:10PM (#49688733)
I feel like the basis of this post is that in the current state of software development, SaaS alone holds very limited power.
Re:Why Do Fewer Renters Expect to Move? on Thursday August 06, 2026 @09:46AM (#49196633)
To add, renters not moving is a renter problem. It's a real estate owner benefit.
Re:Why Do Fewer Renters Expect to Move? on Thursday August 06, 2026 @09:45AM (#49196609)
I feel like US is too heavily weighted on incumbant "rent seeking" through law and policy. We were just in Tokyo and Seoul, the average costs of rents in New York City: ~$3,900 – $4,200 vs Tokyo: ~$1,200 – $1,350 and vs Seoul: ~$950 – $1,100. Renters will move if there are affordable newer options in cities instead of treating boomer asset holding rent seekers as a privileged class.
took a spin, pretty cool. Does it record convos? As a site owner, I would want to know what people were chatting up. As a web surfer, I like the anonymity of it.
An event in which something happens and I have no record, such as robbery or violence within my home or neighborhood. It feels like the suburbs around us insulate themselves from crime. It gives me the feeling that if there are repetitive criminals in my neighborhood we might be able to track them down or prevent it from happening again.
Counter point - I live in a major-ish city in which our police force isn't as strong as the surrounding suburbs so I don't mind a few extra eyes on the streets. My kids like to explore the neighborhood and I like a little extra peace of mind.
Nice work! If you are looking for ways to enhance this or complementary routes, one thing I was thinking about recently... As a musician, often I play songs I don't know the lyrics to. It would be cool to have an app that could follow along karaoke style with the words, as I sing and as the band plays. Right now I clip a phone to the mic stand, but after a lyric or two, I lose my place. This is probably multitudes more complex based on every "band/vocals" sounding different, but just something I was thinking about.
Thanks you inspired to make slop too. 2 passes on cursor for my skifree2.0 game in honor of the olympics - https://danvoell.com/ski/
Re:Claude Code is your customer on Saturday January 31, 2026 @03:57PM (#46840765)
Nice post, makes sense.
Love it! Could someone go ahead and make a plugin that allows you to download an mp4 of the loop. for whatever. Abelton, Garageband...
this is awesome. The only code instruction video instructions that I have watched that doubled as a song. At first I thought it was the Euro dance hall lyrics and then I realized it was actually the code instructions.
Re:Show HN: I built a synth for my daughter on Monday November 17, 2025 @10:13AM (#45954281)
This is awesome. Just awesome. Love that it looks like a baby toy and packs enough punch to get a kid about 20 years up the line of music understanding.
Re:Sora 2 on Tuesday September 30, 2025 @09:12PM (#45433224)
My guess is that the entry point is to help people think about what to do. I still don't love the midjourney interface but it serves the same purpose.
Next up is a store that generates a functional SaaS with monthly billing from anything you type in search.
Re:Genie 3: A new frontier for world models on Tuesday August 05, 2025 @11:06AM (#44798961)
My take as well. Feels like something that is going to be plugged into my brain when I'm drooling in a nursing home.
Awesome, nice work! This type of tech opens up a world of physical games.

Re:20 years to give away virtually all my wealth on Thursday May 08, 2025 @11:04AM (#43926774)
And/or when you die. We need more people trying to make the world better while they are here instead of treating the finish line like the, well, finish line.
"incentivize, subsidize" - yes. There should be less incentives and tax breaks for "holding an asset" and more incentives for making things that improve human lives. Most of the laws are set by the incumbents who stand to lose what they have built and who have the money to pay the lawyers to set the tax code. Real estate should not get incentives unless its getting someone in a home. Private equity, same. Venture capital, after a certain point, same. If you are worth a bazillian dollars, same. A lawyer with balls needs to take on the tax code. I'm kind of hoping the whole Harvard escapade awakens a few legal idealists out there.
Re:TV Garden(Channels from the World) on Thursday April 03, 2025 @10:15AM (#43570022)
"Shazam for movies/tv shows" - We watched a Spanish Game Show while abroad this spring break. There was a team that kept winning and my family got behind them. I returned home and figured we could jump right back in and watch it remotely. After searching for hours, I'm not sure the show ever existed and might actually be a figment of my imagination even though we have photos, clips from it, and even know the name of the show. There could definitely be a need for this. Maybe shazam meets low cost pay per view for "low demand licensed content".
Re:The Anthropic Economic Index on Monday February 10, 2025 @11:31AM (#43002120)
I agree this is the biggest issue. Too many folks are passing off the potential behind this stuff...this might replace the person beneath me but... As a one person manufacturing business, I've augmented 5 positions that I otherwise would have needed to hire. The end game of this is 10% of the population will be able to produce the goods for 100% of the population. That's the problem statement.
I feel like some people have been using "most profitable areas" instead of saying dense urban areas and upset that it might take a while to reach rural and suburban areas. Is that what you are saying? What business is not in the business of pursuing the most plausible profitable direction first?
This is such a cool concept! If you're focusing on the end goal, another approach could be using a "switch" at the URL destination—something that redirects users to a different page based on a randomizer, user data, or other criteria. For anyone exploring this kind of functionality and interested in testing physical stickers for their projects, I work with a lot of SaaS companies on variable labels and would be happy to share insights, print some samples or collaborate.

My finger hurts
I hope F5Bot is on this list. Been using for free for years. just works. Reached out a while back and owner is very responsive.
Re:ChatGPT Pro on Thursday December 05, 2024 @01:33PM (#42331003)
Take my money. Would still pay well more.
Great move. The value to easily deploying content, code, anything digital to AWS is immense.

Packagers do this. V2 is to throw your negotiations agent into the mix… we are going to book all 3 of these, now, but you need to give us a kickback.
