Glad I read the article, this is fascinating:

> In 2012, a LightScribe optical drive was successfully used by Maher El-Kady, a graduate of UCLA, to turn a specially prepared graphite oxide layer coated onto a DVD into graphene.[10] El-Kady and Richard Kaner, his lab professor, used an unmodified LightScribe drive. The disc was prepared by coating the disc with an aqueous solution of graphite oxide and allowing it to dry. Areas of the coating illuminated by the LightScribe laser were turned into graphene. Various shapes can be drawn, which allowed the scientist duo essentially to laser-print an ultracapacitor on graphene using consumer-grade technology.

~~I feel like that would probably meaningfully increase the amount of compute necessary to serve the website. As it were it’s likely static html, but any randomness would have to rely on a server side operation for each request and couldn’t be cached.~~

I went and checked and in fact it is already serving a script s.js so I guess you’re right!

Re:Chop Up Your Books on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @05:12PM (#49718981)
What do you do with the pages of the book once you’ve scanned it?
The issue, I suspect, is payment processing and KYC. To operate at their scale requires not only the cooperation of various PCI partners (who are not obligated to cooperate) it also involves massive liability. A better question to ask is for whom would the investment of building a new Shopify be worth it. I suspect the answer is “not anyone who is using Shopify”.

Making a list of the tells you have will only serve to have them prompted against.
Why limit to language and SDK? Have the LLM write machine code.
Who exactly are "they"?

Re:The Quiet Renovation at Bitwarden on Monday May 18, 2026 @05:51PM (#48186228)
It is still maintained, but I believe the maintainer is employed by Bitwarden now, and is working on projects in addition to Vaultwarden.

Yep! I don’t comment unless I have something useful to add to the conversation.

Does Skype no longer do POTS calls?
This is correct. My gums unfortunately receded and * my teeth are extremely sensitive * the area is sore constantly * I will need a graft from elsewhere in my mouth to correct it.
How much of that is the APU? I’d imagine the bottleneck would lie with manufacturers using the cheapest panels and digitizers they can.
Worked for me, what did you `cat`?
Re:Playlist for iOS on Friday May 07, 2021 @07:39AM (#27074780)
I dislike it because chromium is almost a monoculture and Google controls it. I’m not diametrically opposed to chromium based browsers but I might be more hesitant to switch.

Sorry if this was asked already but is Synth chromium based?
