News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

cuteboy19

but microsoftgenuinerewardsrc.com is! shameful!
it is time we have a good industry standard for this stuff
this doesn’t sound reassuring. there is not a nationality test on buying shares
Re:An LLM agent that runs on any Linux box on Tuesday May 05, 2026 @12:31AM (#48018053)
i don’t understand what in context means here. how is this different from a regular agent like claude code
Re:Agent Skills on Tuesday May 05, 2026 @12:28AM (#48018044)
people are now being encouraged to use ai notetaking features under the guise of productivity.

a worker is just the sum total of all work related context. to collate, verify and organize this context is just asking to be replaced.

both countries reached peak coal this year.
Re:AI isn't replacing jobs. AI spending is on Monday November 10, 2025 @03:05AM (#45873599)
very few people move out permanently. if you exclude the gulf workers that is.
Re:World emissions hit record high, but the EU leads trend reversal on Wednesday September 17, 2025 @10:03PM (#45284154)
india and china should just split into 30 countries respectively (for tax purposes)

it would put all these arguments to rest

aqi of bangalore is 36. please do not repeat racist tropes mindlessly
200k is the cumulative number
there are no elections of consequence in that country
if 1327 people can “replace” 14500 then perhaps they deserve to be replaced.

of course in reality any layoff will be followed by hiring at some point. no one would say that any “replacement” is going on in any other case

Re:The Demoralization is just Beginning on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @12:22AM (#43263167)
a chinese student graduating from Harvard is 60% likely to voluntarily return to china. its on borrowed time now
Re:The Demoralization is just Beginning on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @12:21AM (#43263159)
after jan6 we can pretty much put all asian democracies (minus pakistan) above the US in terms of democracy. SK recently had a similar coup-lite situation, not tolerated there.

accepting loss is a core tenet of democracy

Re:India's Tata Consultancy Was Gaming the US Visa System on Thursday February 20, 2025 @05:07AM (#43113000)
Yeah the only way an extra tax would be fair for the worker would be to think of it like a fee for PR. Otherwise it's just discrimination.
i wonder if someone has rlhf’d an llm into thinking it is human
it should not apply to non interacting “bots”
so a child born to two legal immigrants instantly becomes an illegal immigrant as soon as it pops out. because it has neither a visa nor a us citizenship

amazingly well thought out EO !

zero sum thinking has already infected public policy. turns out liberals can be just as "they took our jobs" as the redneck conservative.

the real fear should be that people wouldnt want to come. already chinese intl students are break even when considering US vs going back to china. who wants to deal with all the bureaucracy and hatred when they could just go back and work for deepseek.

its not about randomness per-message. rather it can summarize a given message in a very weird non intuitive way. the summarization itself can be bad
the point is that Apple intelligence is bad and not that AI is bad
Apple intelligence summarization is certainly not predictable. it can do some really funny things
Re:C is not a Low Level Language on Sunday January 05, 2025 @10:16PM (#42607276)
IDEs? mine just used online compilers
I mean it kind of is. with a manifesto and everything. the idea was to send fear through the action
i know we do non tech news as well but this doesn’t seem notable or interesting enough to qualify. maybe an article about the history of jury nullification would be better
Re:Updates to H-1B on Thursday December 19, 2024 @03:29AM (#42459529)
foreign students actually subsidize higher education for most universities
Re:Updates to H-1B on Thursday December 19, 2024 @03:11AM (#42459466)
if anything the previous regime was even more unconstrained. add to that generous blanket amnesty etc and today seems more gated than ever
Re:Certain names make ChatGPT grind to a halt, and we know why on Tuesday December 03, 2024 @06:05AM (#42304950)
the reason why this is news at all is because this sort of censorship immediately prompted people to try to jailbreak chat and force it to say the name. and since the filter is simple there are tons of creative jailbreaks for it now
ive had horrible experiences with mergifys tool. do you know if this is better
