astra is great for exploration and planning. once I have a plan, I usually delegate to deepseek flash. its quick and doesn't stray
Re:The math that OpenAI keeps for itself on Sunday October 18, 2026 @01:30AM (#50138168)
well I for one thank the mathematicians engaging in number theory when there weren't any practical applications. it took a few hundred years for the technology to catch up to where its the reason we can even have a semblance of privacy in the modern age via cryptography.

the lesson there is that we have no way to know what the the abstract useless math today will enable us in the future.

they do have a really big and well stocked skin bank! Its positive as long as you don't start asking where it came from :P
Its easy to be surrounded by enemies when you keep giving them reasons to hate you.
didn't we like, blow up one of their schools and kill like a bunch of their kids?
I have gotten so much value out of that one game over the years. if he decided to just cut a new expansion pack of new content for an extra fee, I'd happily drop money for it
Re:Attack of the Vibe Coded Photoshop Clones on Monday October 12, 2026 @05:12AM (#50053556)
just google what they did to michael jackson.
not only did they blow up a school with close to 100 kids dead. the news treated it as a byline while going over the 7 american soldiers who died as if literal kids didn't' matter because they weren't born in the right country.
I really like the way air works. the big reason I dont use it is because they have refused to support elixir which is my daily driver language.

I love that I can use browse the code in it and inline my comments for my prompts and send out all my requests into a single prompt

sounds like the terrorists did indeed win

"silent spell casting"
> write it in C and ask an LLM to weed out the memory bugs?

because a non-determinist chain of reasoning is not the same as a fully deterministic algorithm. Its the best tool when a deterministic system is not feasable.

> I wouldn't be surprised if the Greeks and Romans felt the same.

reading and writing are corrupting your ability to remember everything you need to know!!

the price for movie tickets in america are insane too. I went to see the odyssey in malaysia. It was less than half the price for an equivalent experience.

> I don't recall us bombing Pakistan, India, Israel, China, or North Korea.

pakistan and india did it in secret.

incidentally, its alleged that one of the countries on that list killed a very prominent american in order to prevent us from stopping them from creating a nuclear program.

am I the only one here who is perfectly fine with deepseek and qwen? generally I do all the planning in my head and a few sentences describing what I want is enough for deepseek to save me hours of work. Hell I get away with flash for most of it and use pro for some reviews.

oh a double wide surprise for the AI industry? just what we needed.

I see no way this could go wrong at all.
> Would you advise a 17 y.o. to learn how transistors work or how to code

how many of us out here are doing work directly in what we got a degree in? I majored in economics and now I'm a CTO.

I would absolutely advise a 17 yo to learn how to code, understand how transitors work and how to code an llm. even if he never works on llms, you basically end up with a kid with applied knowlege of statistics, math, physics hardware, logic and a whole lot of practice in critical thinking.

> This must be a troll.

Its funny cuz what he describes is basically my story as well. I lived to travel and took on substandard contracts to get by for awhile. eventually met my cofounders and now I'm living comfortably on a descent salary with a saas that I built. Hopefully I can keep this going indefinitly.

hmm inquisition, conquistadores in south america, and british expansion into india, the genocide of the kumir ruge and congo under leopold and the holocaust had nothign to do with islam.

atheist here, from my perspective, all the religions seem to lean in teh direction of violence when paired with a greedy elite.

also have you read the old testament? large sections of it come down to "god told us to kill them so we did down to the last sheep"

islamaphobia is a symptom of the uneducated.

> Sure, never mind the millions of jews in concentration camps. Or what about the jews being terrorized by the likes of hamas, al-queda, taliban, al-shebab, IS, or any other islamic terror organization worldwide? Over the past 80 years, the number of children involved may dwarf the figure you got from hamas.

the levels of shamelessness here on display here is breathtaking...

you can't beat the Zorhan!

I found the new deepseek flash is so good I rarely have to pull out gpt sol anymore. if anything for coding tasks, gpt sol ends to go out of scope and I have to reign it in. Trying to keep my tasks managably small for human review is a endless battle with the frontier models.
Re:Ten advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @04:07AM (#49179918)
its a bit like how big companies will pullin a CEO who;s job is to do all the unpopular stuff and then summarily dismiss him after (while keeping the policies he created in tact).

ideally we should be throwing our support behind democratic socialists like zorhan mamdani but old school moderate democrats are just as bad as trump. they are juts happy letting trump do the dirty work. At the end of the day they are both working for a certain foreign government and not the interests of the american people.

both democrats and republicans take their money from the same donors. its all a show.

probably the arbitrariness of it. PEMDAS is more or less burned into my brain at this point but its basically the qwerty of notations.

I do recall that a "famous redditor" was driven to suicide for making works available and he wasn't even making money for it.
