Also its quite funny to see OpenAI (with all their researchers and engineers) get disrupted by someone with little to no background (Emad) in AI and ML but who embraced OpenAI's original mission about making AI as open as possible.
He mentioned the 1970's and 80's five times, which was a period of high inflation, high rates and civil unrest.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Volcker#Chairman_of_the_F...:

"Volcker's Federal Reserve board elicited the strongest political attacks and most widespread protests in the history of the Federal Reserve (unlike any protests experienced since 1922), due to the effects of high interest rates on the construction, farming, and industrial sectors, culminating in indebted farmers driving their tractors onto C Street NW in Washington, D.C. and blockading the Eccles Building. US monetary policy eased in 1982, helping lead to a resumption of economic growth"

TL;DR it's going to get ugly

That's Peter Thiel's thesis
> He doesn't seem to have invested anything in "atoms" at all

What are you talking about?

Just from their website (https://foundersfund.com/portfolio/) Founders Fund invested in SpaceX, Anduril, Varda Space, DeepMind, Synthego, 8Sleep, Oculus and ScaleAI, every single of which are deep tech startups.

Hell, the only other VC that have kept pace with that level of 'Atoms' investing is Khosla Ventures and Lux Capital.

I attended a top notch school for EE, where I specialized in optics and photonics. After witnessing one of our top lab graduates bag a 100k photonics job, I realized I had to switch, so I transferred into ML where the math was significantly easier but the pay was far better.

Now all I do is tune hyper parameters, but man I miss all the wild mind-blowing physics that photonics had to offer.

In a talk at Stanford he said that he coded up Amazon's original HTML website.
