thats the nature of censorship, get rid of somthing before anyone is made aware of it.
Re:US spies want to know how to identify compromised AI on Monday January 07, 2019 @04:58PM (#18850611)
we are also interested in how to compromise an identified AI
proof doesnt matter, they have immunity from prosecution, and its near impossible to prove they are acting beyond thier legal authority or as an unreasonable person. They should have consequences to fear when they screw up just like everybody else does.
starting up in the early 80s that makes 36 years developing the technology, hmmm.
the link below points to the source code for alexa based personal assistants in a can. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=.... you can also access alexa by browser, but you need to sign in

https://www.amazon.com/ap/signin?showRmrMe=1&openid.return_t....

there is also a way of saddling an SDcard into the echodot debug port and booting whatever you have put on the SD thus you may run custom boot up on the dot and hax around.

One of the most interesting things to get into is the MP3files that make up the dots responses to you, writing your own skills is cool too.

and here are a bunch of fidjitty tricks to do to your dot.

...Yup you got it pegged sounds like you know AZ very well.
"It is interesting how Waymo chose not to pursue charges in a few cases where they had footage of the assailant"

...this is like a victim of a home invasion telling the cops that its ok nothings wrong, because if the cops dig deeper they will find the depths of depravity.

Does any one here know the full extent of data collection that waymo uses? does google know for sure that there are no backdoors in hardware or code? DOES anyone know what is being hidden from scrutiny?

yup there is its a good side gig, im a softie tho, so i take it easy on markup and billing...im barter friendly , as out here things and materials are nearly good as cash.
yeah that little pointed stick incident on that island off the coast of india was a thing wasnt it ?
i think this might be shadow banned, but FWIW, i use PIC and ALU to bypass smart controlls at the hardware level so old men and women, who dont want smart appliances get a hardware version that is locally contained. physically i fabricate a new control panel or console, manufacture the "digital over analogue" dials and keypads, and replace the smart hardware.
sorry its not a sweet thing to hear, but the default coupling of intense data , and physical surveillance with smart products is a pitfall, and people are backlashing against it. I am one of those people that circumvent smart appliances back to sane mode and i make a killing financially from it.
"why not attack washing machines and dishwashers?" ...thats going to happen with smart appliances eventualy, and the movement to desmart appliances is growing. it will keep electrical engineers in business developing smart actuation workarounds for appliances
...hey driver get outta the car and go take lunch, and heres a number for a tow truck when your done eating. i would do the same in my village, as would most others who live here. its not about the jobs, its about the loss of privacy due to the incidental "meta as moby dick" mass surveilance that occurs

alaska farm here keeping bees and producing hydroponic plant products. All of my automation is home brew.

"what comes to your mind when you think of an uncensored social media network?"

- irc comes to mind

Re:Ask HN: What are your favorite computer games? on Wednesday December 26, 2018 @04:36PM (#18765151)
my favorite game genre- is RPG fantasy. in articular an isometric view world exploration is what holds my interest. In particular, a game that is fluid in its story line is important, even a doom like FPSG is in my tops list if there is a story or underlying world to negotiate.
Re:Mitochondrial DNA Can Be Inherited from Fathers on Thursday November 29, 2018 @01:58PM (#18562782)
spermatozoa are like a bargeload of magnetic tape. the dna is packed up in an acrosome that serves to [in humans] , eject the paternal contribution into the egg. --this is pushed around by a flagellating tail that is powered by numerous mitochondria, most of them burnout, any that make it to eggplasm are challenged in other ways.
Re:Open Source is Not About You on Monday November 26, 2018 @08:50PM (#18538632)
I think if you are doing an excellent job with your project, noone has time for you[dev] , as they are too busy enjoying your project. its like when granpa tries to get in on the basement gamefest with the kids. let them play, your best contribution is to make more toys for them to play with and let come to you and ask for more.
Re:Mitochondrial DNA Can Be Inherited from Fathers on Monday November 26, 2018 @08:06PM (#18538401)
i dont see why this is new or a huge shock. its really as obvious as apple pie contains apples, however once a superstar makes a pronouncement and others agree it is very difficult for anyone to accept that the paradigm is a grainy one that requires focus. spermatozoa are loaded with moby quantities of mitochondria and some do make it into the oocytic cytoplasm in a functional state. thus there is a paternal contribution to the genetic component of zygogenesis. the new part has not yet been explored, and that would be what level of silencing occurs due to maternal cytoplasmic factors interacting with the paternal Mitochondriome.
Re:The Science Is Clear: Dirty Farm Water Is Making Us Sick on Monday November 26, 2018 @05:35PM (#18537470)
- you can have a crop of fancy lettuce in 3 weeks with medium light intensity, simple flourescent tubes will do the trick for about one KWh per square yard per day- about 15$ to produce roughly 20 heads of ~gourmet lettuce retails about 3$ a head, or better if you have a restaurant and serve salads.

that being said, a big part of the problem is irrigation with liquified fecal waste that has not fallowed properly as a bare minimum

this just in ... a high school student can do this and it is regularly set up and maintained by said highschool students, all you need to remember as a core concept is P.L.AN.T. photosynthesis light atmosphere nutrition temperature. cannabis cultivators are not the brightest or most adept bunch but they seem to struggle through and make millions as the tax revenue would suggest

I think something needs to be tuned up a little, the six months estimate does not mean six months from now but six months after the patient zero and transmission to the surrounding epideme. between natural process, manmade pathogens, weaponized pathogens, and relic pathogens emerging from permafrost older than mankind, we collectively as a species need some consensus. typically overpopulations are inescapably corrected by starvation, or disease.
