You can tell it is written for local people. I find it quite jarring when I have to stop reading to find out what ROTC or MSC are supposed to mean.
I was already disgruntled with 62.5g! I remember when they were 65g.

I think a few years older and I would have remembered 68g Mars Bars.

Like Homer Simpson said about alcohol: "To alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems", we developers can say about AI (assuming AI-assisted coding can save memory in popular programs, OSes, etc)

I recently switched to Apple Music.

Found a U2 album in my library. Familiar anyone?

Single family homes are sparse. Ground level (not multi-storey) car parks are sparse.
But at the time that software was "new" and unreliable.
They are doing it now.

Summed up in a recent headline "Florida Gov. DeSantis signs bill that deletes climate change from state law"

Maybe you only get a second notification if you dismiss the first?

Can I see the clues after I have solved it?
It does, but is priced uncompetitively compared to mobile data.
Just checked my provider's pricing ( in the UK) MMS are capped at 300kB and cost 30p (0.39 USD) per message.

That kind of pricing made WhatsApp an infinitely preferable alternative.

Phones automatically switching to MMS would be catastrophic.

Data (WhatsApp) is essentially free in comparison. £10 (13 USD) per month gets you 20GB: which doesn't care how many messages/recipients/photos you send.

Group messages.

If I send an SMS message to a group of people, they all see a message from me. They don't know who else got it. And if they reply, they reply only to me. Is your experience different?

WhatsApp (and I think iMessage) allow me to create a group with a name/purpose and send messages to the group and receive replies to the whole group.

(P.S. I went from dumb-phones to Android and have limited exposure to iMessage's feature-set).

100% this.

It might not occur to people in North America that even British English users are inconvenienced when restricted to ASCII only (GBP vs £) and therefore the name implies that this tool is not for us.

You can configure alternative phone numbers to receive the SMS code. (Family members, friends).

They would only get a message if you hit "try another way" and choose one of your alternative numbers during the login challenge.

But the virus is already in the live prod environment!

That's the PAC (Porting Authorisation Code). Not the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key).

I thought the reason we should all wear masks is to protect everyone else around us by preventing our breathing/speaking from creating clouds of airbourne droplets.

I.E. it is supposed to filter the air you put out more than the air you breathe in.

Pages is not a suitable Word replacement at all!

Send a Word attachment to _anyone_ to collaborate. They can open, read and edit the file (cross platform: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS)

Send a pages attachment. Receiving party won't know what it is and won't be able to open or read it let alone edit it.

Yes, in Abu Dhabi in 2010, Michael Schumacher spun 180 and Vitantonio Liuzzi then hit him head on.

It was at relatively low speed (for F1) but Schumacher's head was very nearly hit as the other car rode over his.

If you find it here and delete it, I think it will cease to influence your recommended videos.

Re:Zoom Has a Dark Side – and an FBI Warning on Friday April 03, 2020 @10:18AM (#22769339)
I don't think the 'bad' PR is going to be very costly at all.

More like free advertising.

A massive proportion have heard of Zoom this week compared to last because of the PR. Pretty much an ideal free viral marketing campaign!

In fact the word "jeep" came from the colloquial contraction of "GP" - general purpose (vehicle).
In the UK we say "Chelsea tractor". Definitely derogatorily.

I solved the skin irritation issue by buying a third party metal strap (YMMV)
Off-topic: but that website needs an epilepsy warning! Horrible jerky scrolling experience (in both Firefox and Chrome)

As a counterpoint the GPs diagram was useful for me (perhaps because I have a background involving some study of optics).

Granted the parents picture is way better than the rough ASCIIart

Reminds me of when nest 'bricked' revolv devices and migrated the users to nest.

I am sticking with a non-IOT thermostat.
