The reason people are using these paid queue services is because Node sucks. Isn't it better to use an open source library or adult backend stack which solved this problem 30 years ago?
Re:Trigger.dev customer environment variables exposed

Trigger and friends exist precisely because Node is not a serious backend runtime so you have to reach for bolt-ons for every little thing. No matter if trigger is open source or managed, it's an anti-pattern. Erlang/Elixir, C#, Go etc all handle this sort of async natively, literally out of the box. Mature frameworks like Rails, Django have pretty easy to use officially libraries as well. This has been a solved problem for literally decades.

There are open source libraries even for that sort of thing.

Depending on the framework you are in, there might be the equivalent of LiveView/Hotwire that works with MVC.

The JS frameworks exist for a reason, recreating them seems a little excessive. Why not skip JS and go to a Rust wasm framework or Phoenix LiveView if the goal is to get away from JS/node/npm?

The very fact that Nextjs vibe projects need an external (and paid!) background jobs / async service show how much of an anti pattern that this framework and similar are. Just use a sensible stack from day one that can handle concurrency out of the box like Elixir or something with established open source background jobs library. Then you can worry less about this kind of paid 3rd party nonsense. Ditto on auth. I just can't fathom outsourcing these types or core functionalities, the operational, security and cost risks make very little sense when there's libraries that do this out of the box.

Please don't bring this reddit-like "every comment I don't like is a bot", it degrades the forum.

You literally made my point. Yes the surfaces are good hardware.

The only ones that work as a unified product, yes.

My wife loves her surface book specifically for the touch. No touch is what held her back from going Mac. She's a teacher and is constantly making assets and stuff in Canvas and those sort of things.

Tanstack vs Phoenix, not Astro. Astro is for static sites. JavaScript is not a serious backend language, but Tanstack SPA isn’t half bad.

So Astro, then. I was was replying to the previous poster who did need a real app.

Or for a serious stack like Phoenix Liveview.

Astro blows away next.js for static sites, especially blogs.

Native UI with Crux backend. Best of both worlds.

Well, it's either typed and memory managed Rust or underperforming NextJS/Python slop. Also, I've read way more Rust and understand it more than I ever did before AI tools became good enough. Using a neat package called Crux for cross platform apps which uses the Elm architecture, which I've very familiar with and have written in the past. Instead of gatekeeping, try opening the door and finding out how to help - it's Rust's time to shine.

I did this once but with Elixir, and it worked - because I shipped ahead of schedule (way ahead of the other teams portions). Performance and quality met the standards. Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission if that means not having to fool with Java.

That is literally the point I'm making regarding political leaning. Gracias. Flying cars are cool, who cares about the politics. I want those space rocks and so do you.
Re:Tesla Roadster

So reddit. Log out, come out of the hollar and talk to some real people. Normal people think the flying car is kick ass.

You people really don't get it, do it? It's not about the car being practical. Cleary this is not going to make it to the roads, but it will on a powered by Grok robotic space craft. Think potentially unlimited resources from asteroid mining. Get over your political leanings and these personalities involved and think bigger picture.
Re:Tesla Roadster
on Saturday October 17, 2026 @08:36AM (#50130575)
Like I said, TDS. I didn't vote for Trump and think he's a bag of farts, Elon is well, Elon - but I think the self flying car is cool as is the rocket stuff from a pure engineering perspective. No need to project and lash out at everything. Sometimes a cool ass flying car is just a cool ass flying car. Btw, in the real world (not costal enclaves, not reddit) my opinion is the majority one. I hope you get the help you need.
Re:Tesla Roadster
on Saturday October 17, 2026 @07:38AM (#50130168)
Not only is it reality, it's an epidemic as seen in the anti-Elon comments. People would love the flying car if Elon endorsed Kamala (and would have ignored his autistic on stage spasm). And if you are honest, you know I'm 100% correct here. People spend entirely too much time on Reddit and are projecting their political stance on anything Elon does. Grow up is what I am saying.
