in sure all their games will be reverse engineered and live on in the open source community, eventually
I wish someone would reverse engineer Plex and copy its protocols to Jellyfin so you can use all the Plex Tv clients but on a Jellyfin server...
I think it was that the c version unstable and there wasn't anyone to maintain the lib and Google didn't want to do it
wow, they made a forth session of West world...?
You should just be able to give them secure access to your git repo and they can get an LLM to do a code review.
can you link to data to prove the economics are bad?
yeah, just write a stub/wrapper around it and abstract. it's the classic coupling problem. nothing to do with CUDA
oh no no no, this is going to break the CPP hold on AI and game dev.
Chat Ui killed the GUI star. language is The ultimate UI. I guess you still need graphs (mainly so you can have dramatic moments in movies), but that's it
doesn't this imply it would solve the halting problem?
my son is addicted to VR gorilla tag. I guess he'll be getting weep-eyed about it in 30 years :P
yeah, I think they will get smaller so they can be run everywhere, and really just be an interface to various non AI systems.
I'm rarely vibing at the individual function level these days. If I was I'd probably use this to do the unit tests and then get the LLM to write the function from that.
Also, it seems one could get Claude to do this in 2 mins without making a whole IDE specifically for it?
Now days I use the LLM wiki idea to build a detailed spec up front before getting the agent to build the system. Keeps a record of the intent and you can get the agent to keep this updated with every change request.
Yeah, but a LLM can help you bang out 10 variations on a dynamic and figure out if its fun before committing to production code. You can iterate faster and your not tempted to get attached to the code.
If there is something smaller than indie, then LLM will allow them to get off the ground with a smaller/no team.
There is no practical argument against something that makes every aspect of a job easier.
The honest truth is that ppl are scared all their years of blood and sweat are for nought, but that just isn't true. The only way they will find that out is if they just give it a go and embrace it.
GUYS!LLMs killed the SaaS star!
Just vibe code a vanilla Django app. No front-end frame work. No mobile app (just use your mobile's browser). Basic security baked in. It can handle 100k traffic a day easy which is 99% of small to medium businesses.
There are hundreds of cheap, easy to use hosting providers out there now (an LLM can figure out how to use). Or self host on a Raspberry Pi if you are slightly nerby (there are hundreds of videos on YouTube about it). Hit a technical hurdle: LLM will fix it.
Can't figure it out yourself, just throw a couple grand at a recent graduate to drive the LLM for you. There are tens of thousands who would do it for the experience on their CV.
SaaS is dead!
I really don't know what Israel's long term goal here is? Fighting a war with a group of people who vastly outnumbered you and who are known if never giving up or forgetting means it will never end. it's been going on since 1948. you'd figure they'd realise this approach isn't working by now?
I guess this is perfect for right wing governments, a war that doesn't end, and there probably is no plan part the next election.
the only thing that will be effective is if governments start taxing the production of plastic to the point it's not a cheap alternative anymore. these types of projects are too make people feel better while pissing in the wind
with LLMs it's becoming more common to just vibe up anything you need that might be missing. even if there is an available package you can pull in. the most secure option as well
define "put in the work" what does that work look like. an example please!
just make guns that on l can only shoot the baddies! easy!
glad I never used them now
I don't know what the problem is: just make guns that can only shout baddies!
don't forget subscribe to alerts. my favourite, coz I want some random website to push notify me everyone it does anything
I've read 'Blood, Sweat and Pixels' and it seems that game dev is grinding for 10 hours days, 7 days a week for months to meet stupid deadlines and then having zero job security or profit share. Does that about sum it up?
LLMs are going to make meeting deadlines more obtainable (or just move the goal post on deadlines so you still have to do more while working the same hours).
This stuff is going to hit for indie devs, one or two man shows, working part time with no budget. The first one to get a smash hit, which will be because of the game play dynamic not the content, with 100% AI coding and be the proof of concept that will change the whole game. Its great for indie devs. No so great for AAA who will actually have to start having original ideas, not just "What if we make another FPS that copies X and Y"
After those indie devs start to make some cash they will spend it on original art. Not for moral reasons, but as you say, for originality, which even for humans is difficult these days.
AI doomers are looking at this wrong. Its the democratization of the game industry from the AAA monopolies. Platforms like Steam have made this possible.
yeah, all in the time before LLMs. And Minecraft uses procedural terrain generation and it's The biggest game of all time
what are the moral grounds?
I was thinking that a search engine that ignores anything with advertising on it would be useful. This has inspired me to give it a go (on the weekend even)
