>the whole reason they exist is to manage the money supply.

That's a lot like saying the whole reason google exists is to help people find information. There are greedier reasons for these organizations to exist.

Would Obama, Trump, and their wives be happy to have their scans available for public viewing? If it's obvious they wouldn't, it should be obvious it's an invasion of privacy.
Put another way, carbon has been slowly leaking from the ecosystem into the ground for hundreds of millions of years and now we're abruptly reintroducing that carbon to the ecosystem.

Yes this is an inherent flaw in laws. They benefit those who get away with breaking them.
I would guess even operating the RCS system could launch some of those loose looking rocks to escape velocity. Imagine blowing on a rock that's been in place for thousands of years and watching it drift into space.

His girlfriend is trying to make the system useful for communicating both great and terrible service while everyone else has gamed it down to a reporting mechanism. His girlfriend is right and everyone else is wrong.
It would be a much more accurate article if instead of "climate science" it said "climate change prediction and mitigation."
Re:World Population Growth on Tuesday May 28, 2019 @07:50AM (#20029140)
It's a hard conversation because of the mechanics of how the human species works. If one group of people decides to take action and promote infertility, it will simply be replaced by the neighboring group of people who continue having high fertility. We have only globally enforced infertility or mass death of fertile populations as our long term options. It's depressing. If any group continues being highly fertile, they will inherit the earth. The authority necessary to prevent high fertility among all people is dystopian beyond belief.

Anyone who has played Kerbal can tell you the hardest part of this mission is getting back to the orbiter.

That's an interesting link you have there, but it feels like limited hangout. "Yeah we admit we routinely manipulated film and more, but only to paint ourselves in a favorable light."
>It’s absolutely mind-boggling that virtually every major outlet in the world reporting the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling yesterday has failed to mention one of the most important facts of the entire case. Caster Semenya has XY chromosomes.

This is a minefield of an offensive topic, but I will give it a shot.

Each outlet has a narrative that all stories support. "Right wing" outlets like Breitbart run the narrative that women are being pushed out of their own sports organizations by (insert polite term for all of the recent expansions to the definition of women here.) Most others run the narrative that this expanding definition has no negative consequences and we all accept it with jubilation. Reporting the XY chromosome detail could cause some readers to support the opposing narrative.

I can't possibly explain the mechanics of disease eradication without mentioning the movement of infected people. I don't want to get reported for bigotry though so I should simply have not replied on this topic to guarantee my continued use of this site. Unfortunately that means all the discussions here are partial. The ability of hacker news users to educate themselves with discussion is severely limited by the self censorship you impose on us. The fact you completely misunderstood what I said is not surprising as you likely choose to live in a censored world of partial arguments that leave you ignorant, uneducated, and comfortably numb. I would still never report you though.
It's pretty obviously tongue-in-cheek. I think you replied to a troll making his own tongue-in-cheek joke.
The MMR vaccine does not give full immunity(the reason booster shots exist), immigrants can enter the country while carrying the disease, and sometimes live virus vaccines like MMR can leave the people who get them contagious. The only ways to have zero cases of any disease in the country are to either eradicate it globally (like small pox), or to eradicate it nationally and prevent cross border transmission (like polio).
To reduce per capita CO2 emissions, breed like rabbits and ignore CO2 emissions.
Re:YouTube is trying to reward “quality” content on Friday April 12, 2019 @01:47PM (#19647211)
I already prefer bitchute to youtube overall. Somehow they're staying alive. There's no need to get completely black pilled on the future of video hosting. We have hope.

I am surprised their PR team didn't advise them to use the neutral term "ethno-nationalist."

That sounds a lot like intentionally misleading people.

Re:YC Open Office Hours for Black and Hispanic Founders on Thursday September 17, 2015 @11:21PM (#10237339)
No one ever tries to help ugly people, but we all know they face discrimination.
Re:Why It's Safe for Founders to Be Nice on Friday August 28, 2015 @07:46PM (#10138390)
The Uber example is a balance between benefiting customers and drivers. If the prices are too high, there won't be enough riders and if the prices are too low, there won't be enough drivers. There is a balanced price where the supply of drivers and riders is equal and fluctuations in this balance are seen in the surge prices. If Uber's share of the ride price went up, then the accusations of underpaying drivers would be more justified.

It made a hummus, fresh sliced cucumber, sriracha sandwich in ~12 seconds so it's probably faster than a human.
