I find plex unusable since the latest UI updates in any place but my PC browser. It's so slow that Jellyfin is really my only option now. Did the vibe-code the new changes or what?
what would be wrong with using AI only in /learning mode? I've used it this way before and found it even more useful than my memory of some teachers I had. If it was locked to this mode and you could not just generate answers I don't see the harm.
Re:How GPT‑5.6 Sol helps run quantum computing experiments on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @11:05AM (#49627816)
Funny you should mention them but not the multiple daily posts about the Chinese models and labs.

ah, brings back memories. third one from the left was my favourite.

Re:GLM 5.2 vs. Opus on Monday June 22, 2026 @11:53AM (#48631945)
People are looking for ways not to burn through their premium subs when in many cases all you have to do is move down to 5.4-mini codex and it will probably solve your issue while barely touching your 5 hour or weekly limits.
Re:Running local models is good now on Wednesday June 17, 2026 @12:16PM (#48572595)
that costs the same as 210 months (17.5) years of using codex 5.5 while not being near as good.
if you're worried about Alzheimers why do you take Marijuana? that would be the first thing to do in prevention
Re:Show HN: I've built a nice home server OS on Friday April 24, 2026 @07:33PM (#47897093)
can't imagine a world in which I'd download a little known distro to put on my home network and use as a server. also, doesn't fedora already have something like this already?
Re:ChatGPT Pro now starts at $100/month on Thursday April 09, 2026 @02:34PM (#47707702)
why not just use it to review your codebase/commits/prs? you don't have to let it write a bunch of code for you neccessarily.
Re:ChatGPT Pro now starts at $100/month on Thursday April 09, 2026 @02:23PM (#47707496)
$20 or $200 plan, now we have a middle plan.
claude for UI, codex for everything else. i cant commit without having codex review something claude did.
Re:Steam on Linux Use Skyrocketed Above 5% in March on Thursday April 02, 2026 @03:55AM (#47611321)
Completely false. The models are nothing like they were a few months ago. Try codex 5.4

Cascadia. Jetbrains. Fira. All you'll ever need.

Linux mint is not a good distro

most games I'm getting 1% lows that are much higher than windows at 4k resolution
Re:Cursor Composer 2 is just Kimi K2.5 with RL on Friday March 20, 2026 @10:07AM (#47454732)
is this the model used on free mode?
totally agree with you, though I have 3 sets of $20 bluetooth sets that I rotate on various devices and have no complaints whatsoever. Also use a DAC and $300 set of can on PC, so I know what good audio sounds like.
Re:Returning to Rails in 2026 on Thursday March 12, 2026 @11:01AM (#47351608)
is this really relevant anymore now that AI has gotten to the level it has? what used to take weeks to setup now take days (react, multiple backend services and infra)
one of their best songs is "don't tread on me"
Re:How Will OpenAI Compete? on Thursday February 26, 2026 @10:15AM (#47167190)
complete opposite experience here
Re:How Will OpenAI Compete? on Thursday February 26, 2026 @10:11AM (#47167140)
this is my experience as well, just cancelled my claude subscription as I'm tired of it the 5 hour window being filled up within 30 minutes of use, and not even fixing the problem that codex finds almost immediately. also found for frontend that gemini 3.1 pro is better than the rest if you really play with it.
Re:Personal Statement of a CIA Analyst on Saturday February 21, 2026 @10:40PM (#47107895)
really? working with the nsa would probably be very interesting work!
Re:EDuke32 – Duke Nukem 3D (Open-Source) on Saturday February 21, 2026 @05:38PM (#47105620)
wow, first Linux crash in over a year trying to run that. artifacts and unresponsive 2nd monitor, had to hard reboot.

https://dreaming.coreyburns.ca Built a site for when I need to relax on breaks or when feeling stressed out. Has some relaxing visuals, music and ambient rain noise.

https://waking.coreyburns.ca Kind of the polar opposite of above, a high energy trance radio station with cool visuals, connected to my local icestream with only banger sets.

https://hackernews.coreyburns.ca Just my own version of hackernews that is more pleasing to the eye.

Re:Smart Goose Deterrent System on Monday September 23, 2024 @05:36PM (#41630860)
*utopia. fixed that for you
not a fan of linux font/text rendering either. doesn't look too bad on my 4k but the 1080p monitor is unusable for me. fonts also look so airy and thin, and white on black looks weird as well.
Re:Dokku: My favorite personal serverless platform on Monday August 26, 2024 @04:21PM (#41361575)
that's what I do and its easier to setup and understand than dokku that's for sure. tried using dokku multiple times and ran into so many issues with it. with traefik you literally just have to copy and past few lines in a compose file and push to docker hub and traefik will pick it up.
Re:Show HN: A free minimalist daily habit tracker on Sunday July 07, 2024 @01:08PM (#40898892)
Surprised nobody mentioned the two low resolution images on the front page. (my habits and the email input at the bottom).

Curious why you wouldn't just put the actual component there rather than a fuzzy-screen shot of them?
