i think we may also see the "perfect" ad jingle or notification tone, this could also be used for consumer conditioning

for examle; playing a likeable sweet sound when consumer does something good [clicks on ad] or a sour tone when doing "bad" like blocking an ad or popup.

this is the source[s] released by amazon. no warantee from me , these are suppossed to be every version of all alexa interface devices source so far.

Re:We Still Don’t Understand Why Time Only Flows Forward on Sunday January 13, 2019 @08:36PM (#18899944)
it may be the case that complexity flows forward only rather than time flowing forward only. the scaling level of temporal progression is centered on the quantum rather than the macroscopic. The best humanly understandable explanation ive found suggests increasing Entropic content of the universe is what we experience and lable as time.

Oumuamua. “It waited in place, like a buoy in the ocean, until the ‘ship’ of the solar system ran into it.”

suggests the object was stationary, until it was [influenced] by our solar system, and made orbit, "in a strange manner" according to previous articles i have read.

here are a couple of helpfuls perhaps.V

["If the technician does decide that they want it off, we would notify the customer that it is going to be turned off … because we are totally transparent," Safonov said.]

Turning off a security measure that protects property and documents that service billed actually did occur is not an indicator of procedural transparency.

exactly, i refer to this myself as A.L. or ideally artificial sentience. [A.S] with the proviso: the script or algorithm that simply parses input against a database is not intelligent, or smart, it is a parser by another name. when a {insert term} can conduct thought experiments and manipulate the environment to compare to the thought experiment, that is , IMO an artificial learning. when a [system] expresses forbodings about being turned off, or upgraded this is looking like A.S. {artificial sentience]
Re:Re-decentralizing the Web, for good this time on Friday January 11, 2019 @04:56PM (#18887564)
there is a "deprecated?" server software. i use it daily, its called Pichat, and so far it seems to be deleted from the internet. it is a chat server/webserver/fileserver. it comes in linux, and win version it is on horde as well as the SDK for it. Tell me if you would like to know more. this is not my software, if you [whomever that may be] are the person or part of the team that created this [pichat] please chime in.
you are speaking in common sense. i dont think you need an AI or an ML. ihave a hunch this is just a scarecrow to chase off the least technical offenders. sharing a password is easy to spot. mirroring the service is another matter entirely, legally as well as practically.
Re:Anxiety and burnout: why kids are consumed with worry on Thursday January 10, 2019 @11:53PM (#18881102)
this reminds me of the "cold shoulder" when someone of ill repute came to dine they would be given the cold shoulder, a gristly fatty hunk of bone and maybe some meat, left unheated and tossed to the not quite welcome guest.
there is still state government, which is apparently supposed to be the real governments. we are a union of states not a state of the federation.
Re:VLC media player has been downloaded 3 billion times on Thursday January 10, 2019 @10:23PM (#18880770)
VLC is a transcoder and will convert from one format to another, or from one stream container to another. VLC will capture and record a stream as well as restream. VLC will record whatever media or stream is being played. VLC has web interfaces to remotely access and controll the [VLC] application.

a complicated program, its far more than a media player! to say its a media player is to say a diamond is a shiny thing with no other use. thanx for the post and support.

Re:The original “Star Trek” doesn't suck and here's why on Thursday January 10, 2019 @07:40PM (#18880006)
it was ahead of its time. if you watch the pilot episode, you will see near the beginning, spock interacting with ships computer verbally, but also with open air gesticulation. [ finger swiping the air to indicate next to the computer] the comms earpiece are very similar to the bluetooth ear sets that used to be cool to some people. does the sci predict the tech or does the tech imitate the sci fi.?
Re:Anxiety and burnout: why kids are consumed with worry on Thursday January 10, 2019 @07:27PM (#18879942)
of course. most kids that experience as i have are dead at thier own hand or an abusers. i am told i am also gifted with a very high score on wechsler. that is also a mitigating factor, as well as what ever geneticaly based wiring is in play.
Re:Anxiety and burnout: why kids are consumed with worry on Thursday January 10, 2019 @06:57PM (#18879731)
i began to realize at an early age that the anxiety and depression were simply neurological sensations, and can be borne locked in a caged, like working with a migraine instead of tapping out for a sick day.

It never goes away, you just get on top of it as something that you inextricably are, like having a scar or poor eyesight. its called emotional repression.

Re:Anxiety and burnout: why kids are consumed with worry on Thursday January 10, 2019 @06:33PM (#18879577)
quite some time ago a co-relation was established between resiliency and the ability of the child to discover ad hoc foster parents. the island of stability normalcy and reasonable expectations created by a child when self-adopting a foster parent, seems to have a great bearing on who survives the traumatic childhood. I am one such child, having experienced extreme and daily physical and psychological abuse for more than 10 years and i have very severe difficulties with wanting to be socially active but feeling extremely pained by the interaction. I feel more in tune with people who are at least 20 years my senior and i am sure this is a result of self fostering
yes, as a country we have to stop playing into the fear that is being peddled to us.

Terrorism is not about fostering abuse of constitutional rights and responsibilities, it is about fostering fear of our constitutional rights and responsibilities.

a large loud dog[s] with a litter of pups works even better.

[plus]

to extend the logic, defending a litter takes great priority over a steak snack.

i can drop a link right now that will let you look around at my driveway, if i get to know you better i could give you a login so you can see it works.

Re:Anxiety and burnout: why kids are consumed with worry on Thursday January 10, 2019 @03:17PM (#18877651)
i think we will see a spike when the current cohort of kids reach early twenties, and real life things screw up, serving to confirm all the imagined problems manufacured by what really amounts to a coincidental "gaslighting" by an badly implemented system.
