Re:Beauty in DVD Menus on Thursday October 08, 2026 @02:06PM (#50009554)
It's why the original Matrix DVD dual layer release was so hard to duplicate / replicate by pirates/"enthusiasts" in a way that would fit on single layer DVDs. One of those was a secret "follow the white rabbit" mode that lead to hidden content.

doom9 had reams of guides dedicate to the matter: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=313722

Nah some environmental regulation is batshit.

Literally, in the UK you can’t build if there’s a protected bat species in the area.

It's even done the right way on Mac OS! Infuriating.

Yawn, there is some variant of this story after every os release.

The articles specific gripes with macOS are Mail, Messages, and System settings. Fixing those does not require a ‘no new features’ (which was always BS) major release.

They’d snap your hands off for distribution and marketing costs as low as 30%.

Retail markups were much higher on physical software.

Wow this some pretty biased reporting. No attempt to assess whether or no Qualcomm have actually breached their contractual license with ARM

Most people are happy for (2) already - iCloud Photos, Device backups, iCloud Messages… email.

Those that won’t use those won’t use this either.

Re:The Trouble with Ingredients in Sunscreens on Tuesday November 07, 2023 @04:50PM (#38183404)
What about Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (P20) ?

Is that available in the US?

I thought the issue with wind in the UK was that its supply is (Scotland) where the demand isn’t (the south). So we’d (a) have to build loads of pylons or expensive underground cables and (b) lose a lot in transmission.

> Can we maybe edit the title to say "UK" instead of "England"?

No, because the law only affects England - Building Regs a devolved matter in Wales and Scotland.

There is a separate law mentioned in the article which is telecoms related and not devolved in Wales - but that is about landlords not needing to grant access to engineers.

Re:Argentina Wins the Football World Cup on Sunday December 18, 2022 @02:50PM (#34042108)
This World Cup has seen some of the best football for decades. It helps that the players aren’t knackered after a full season.
You can do one of those overnight, the other not so much.

Also: spending without revenue creates a deficit, not necessarily inflation.
