Re:A farewell to Arc browser on Thursday October 22, 2026 @05:05PM (#50201028)

the core product has no moat and they're racing to find the actual product
I did this yesterday and it works incredibly well. I finetuned ModernBERT to classify documents. With zeroshot it achieved around ~30% accuracy, which jumped to 98.2% with finetuning, and latency of around 150ms on my Macbook. Just incredible!
Re:Ask HN: Anyone homeschooling their kids? on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @04:44PM (#49542280)
Are you able to point to any literature supporting this statement?
Re:Transfer files over an Ethernet patch cable on Monday August 31, 2026 @08:11PM (#49516391)

maps.me was my goto for years, but that has since devolved into a mess with ads and upselling. I recently discovered CoMaps, and it is excellent for my needs.
Re:Mistral Patent for "Code implemented tool calls" on Monday August 10, 2026 @06:11PM (#49250530)
What? How? With no mentions of priors. This idea has been around for a long time - at least since 2024 (Xingyao Wang et al.)
Re:Kimi K3 Architecture Overview and Notes on Tuesday July 28, 2026 @05:47PM (#49090362)
So, unlike what leaders of western labs labs would like you to believe (that Kimi is just the result of distillation attacks), they are introducing new and novel approaches.
Re:The Beam Engine on Thursday July 23, 2026 @05:03PM (#49028028)
Cool! If you're in New Zealand, there is a massive, two story Double Woolf beam engine at MOTAT museum in Auckland, along with an array of other steam driven engines that they run from time to time.
Re:DaVinci Resolve 21 on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @07:47PM (#48391717)
I still can't believe this software is free.
Re:Orania on Monday May 25, 2026 @06:12PM (#48272559)
I've heard it being referred to as Boersbay, but Boereworsbaai is much better haha
Re:Cal.com is going closed source on Wednesday April 15, 2026 @06:41PM (#47786293)
Security through obscurity isn't a great strategy.
This is great - reminds me of the golden age of cool little MacOS apps
Claude Code with --chrome is excellent at building UIs (and hopeless without it!)
Re:Supabase raises $200M Series D at $2B valuation on Tuesday April 22, 2025 @04:55PM (#43766202)
To be fair this is a series D

When I have aura it's always morbidly fascinating to me how a part of my vision is not black, but it's just "missing"
It floats, but only when very cold

It's really just a stopgap.
Re:US Weighs Banning TP-Link Routers on Wednesday December 18, 2024 @04:10PM (#42455240)
I thought this was true. However after buying and trying to use one of their mesh products, I gave up and got rid of it. I bit the bullet and went with Ubiquiti, and I'll never buy anything else again. Worth the extra cost imo.
If you look at what happened at Twitter in the time before Musk bought it, one could argue that it's already been extremely political - just not on the side the EU would like.
I feel the same. I was diagnosed back when it was still called ADD.

I've been doing this for a while and find that the OCR performance is fantastic.
Re:Apple stuck the Mac mini power button on the bottom on Tuesday October 29, 2024 @11:06PM (#41991624)
Strange design choice. That said, I've used the power button of my existing Mac Mini perhaps once in the past several years.
