Re:Ask HN: Which "AI" provider would you choose? on Thursday October 01, 2026 @11:06AM (#49922664)
Why not spend $8 this month, sign up for t3.chat (or another aggregator), and try them all out yourself?

Personally I pay for t3.chat, and because I need bigger limits for my day job programming, I have a $20 Claude memebership too

Re:I want a data center job on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @01:48PM (#49630404)
Correct, and that's all they need for continuation of a data center, physically

What role did you think would be available? How many humans work physically at a data center (can count on 1 or 2 hands)

You could ask that of many of us here every morning and you would also get interesting answers. Currently? Security research is going to get cooked when Anthropic releases Mythos

Before I got medicated, DMAE and Gotu-Kola extract (nothing to do with Cola/Caffiene) worked pretty well. Pramiracetam if you spend enough $ and can find it, but it will make you more of a logical robot so your social life and loved ones will suffer -- I used sparingly
Re:AI writes code faster. Your job is still to prove it works on Wednesday January 07, 2026 @03:48PM (#46532458)
I spent the last six months on a project, converting dataweave applications to nodejs. Set up an empty nodejs repo w/skeleton code. Take the existing code, removing PII/password anything, and shoving it through Claude was the next step -- transformers were MADE for translation, and it did it's job wonderfully.

Then I had other realities to deal with - they changed the query engine to use JSON instead of XML, and there were already made libraries for interfacing with APIs for data fetching/storing with multiple services (think workday, box, etc). If I would have considered this earlier on in the project, I could have saved myself a lot of work with better prompting, but alas.

5% of my time was setting up the code for claude and pasting the results back 5% was setting up the repos 20% was spent on rewriting the little details that I didn't tell claude or that claude missed/glossed over

and 70% for testing/verification against existing systems.

So that's my real world example from the last six months - I'd love to hear from others

Now bring it to the desktop please

Just learned about that guy Curtis Yarvin and his "Butterfly Revolution" today

I need to rant. Many of us installed DeepSeek R1 over a week ago, knew what it was, knew right off the bat about it's issue with the 3Ts (Taiwan, Tiananmen, Tibet), but didn't give a shit because it kills it at coding. Good... give us the next incremental improvement.

Most people don't give a shit that it codes well, and they'll never use it. But they put their $s into the AI hype train, because they only care about the $s

And now I'm forced to put up with endless (ENDLESS) articles and videos about DeepSeek. I don't care about who wins or loses in the money games, give me a hyperintelligent model I can run on my home machine for free

I read this as the beautiful prison sentence that is the web

But I also love JavaScript so there's that

There's is nothing else after a machine demonstrating superior intelligence to smart humans, starts to modify/improve it's own learning algorithms 24 hours a day, 365.25 days a year. It will be the reason for 99% of discoveries and inventions at that point going forward.

Drug discovery using AI, in the near-term

Re:Ask HN: Why do so many developers hate DORA metrics? on Wednesday April 24, 2024 @03:17AM (#40141576)
WTF is DORA - you should explain this or give a link at least... Thanks :)
Easily, and easily before that. Microsoft is set to spend $100 billion on an AI datacenter+software, called project Stargate, which will get us to AGI/ASI, and probably need it's own nuclear reactor to power. The final phases of this project are in 2028 and 2030
Headphones blasting no music, with earplugs in.

I tried (and was successful) for years with gun mufflers with earplugs, but I got into a company where some salespeople couldn't get the message, so the switch to headphones over earplugs.

It's the next best thing to a strong ADD med :)

Also, considering your seemingly constant barrage, the pomodoro method (easily googled)
