How does it compare with diffstatic?
Personally I let Claude handle most code while I do some coding challenges by hand on the side to keep the brain sharp.
I’m pretty sure it’s for security reasons, it allows the app to ensure the code comes from a correct Signal phone number and not from a third party actor. It’s hand holding yes but it’s a trade off in favor of non-technical users.

Yes the default behavior of working around the bug is good, that’s what everyone was doing anyway pre-LLMs. The good practice is to report the bug. Simply add instructions to your agents to report you the bugs it found in the summary, so you can check the bug and report it correctly upstream.

Except for doing maths, which is painful to input on screens (but beautiful).

It also helps that your history with the doctor will help you build trust. If you have the same doctor for years and you only went twice for symptoms (that was treated by specialists), then your doctor might redirect you to a specialist in no time as soon as you have any new symptoms.

Backup codes, sms backup, trusted user backup. Most of these are quite insecure but better than loosing access to your digital life.

> The du options are: s to summarize and b to display bytes.

Small nitpick: Use long options and your code samples become self explanatory!

Too pricey for food, it’s cheaper to print.
Re:The GitHub wiki is an anti-pattern (2022) on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @10:54AM (#49817115)
You can edit single files in most git forges and it will open a pull request for you, the workflow is not that bad.
This doesn’t scale at all for some problems where a specific algorithm is needed (graph problems for instance).
Re:Copyright does more harm than good and should be abolished on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @04:06AM (#49623014)
“do” imply “can”, but “can” do not imply “do”.
Re:De-Brainrot Vacations on Monday September 07, 2026 @01:27PM (#49600715)
I recognize myself in the first paragraph (except being totally exhausted to the point having to sleep). And I started working as a SWE 4 years ago (so full dopamine brainrot access). Maybe it is because I have a reasonable usage of LLMs?
You forgot the “autonomous” part of the definition.

I have a near total opposite view as a cyclist in France. Buses are extremely dangerous in cities, and are way louder than cars.
Re:AI is removing the middle class of software engineering on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @04:53PM (#49278402)
If AI coding agents follow the same path then any software engineer over 25yo can peacefully continue working for 30 years until the tech is capable. The comparison is futile…
Re:Why is Everyone in Tech so sad? on Saturday August 08, 2026 @10:38AM (#49222242)
N = 1. The company I’m working for, (a hundred employees, EU), we basically build projects on data science, ML, optimization, operational research and such for many industries (transportation, manufacturing, finance, engineering, etc). We are basically the first to know about the latest advances in AI and we have internal optional workshops on LLM assisted development. And yet nobody is pressured to use these tools. At most we are incentivized to at least try these tools.
I’m almost sure that you need some password or biometrics to reset Apple ID, change Find My or change biometrics. Moreover if you don’t trust FaceID you can easily lock it (to ask for password instead of biometrics) when needed.
Not possible on modern iPhones.
The whole point of the debate is that the fetus has no choice during an absorption, not some “moral” ground that you are imposing to someone else.
Re:Maybe you should learn something on Saturday July 04, 2026 @11:28AM (#48786090)
Maybe because these is an obvious benefit of physical exercises and that there are no health benefits to learn a new topic after having already exhausted your brain sitting +7 hours at work?
Re:My Mathematical Regression on Monday June 22, 2026 @02:38PM (#48634170)
Even if you don’t know or remember the basics of combinatorics you can solve the problem with basic dynamic programming : start with the unit grid and then expend it.
Re:AI Has Broken Hiring on Sunday June 21, 2026 @01:19PM (#48620689)
I'm responsible for hiring junior C++ developers in a small company (first role). Let met tell you that almost all candidates are stating "medium" level in C++ in their resume but don't even know how to work with pointers or references, they don't even have the level of someone studying the language for half a day. And I don't even think it's related to AI. Whatever the reason, it's very easy to assert a candidate competency with a 30 minutes to an hour interview in person.
Today I have simply given up trying not to share my personal information. What I do instead is simply blocking all ads and don’t use apps/websites that can’t be used without ad blocking. They may have many personal details like my favorite ice cream flavor but I get zero ads so I don’t care that much (I would prefer no one having this information but I’m pragmatic in such terrible society).
There is no lie or misleading information about rust in the title so it’s clearly not clickbait.
Re:Siri AI on Tuesday June 09, 2026 @01:41AM (#48456960)
There is a uBlock Origin Lite extension for Safari available in the App Store. Technically not as powerful (hence the “lite” in the name) but it’s perfectly blocking all ads for my usage.
Do not forget the new recents ads in Apple Maps.
I’m pretty confident that at least 95% of HN users use adblocking so clearly the users are not worth much to the ad companies. Today I have absolutely zero ads on my devices.

Not everyone live in a big city.
For hiking trails, I highly recommend https://www.comaps.app/. It's simply miles ahead of Google Maps and Apple Maps for hike and biking.
