Re:Google Bar: The next stage in Google redesign on Tuesday November 29, 2011 @06:17PM (#3292785)
They sure are putting lots of eggs in the Google+ basket.
So much for the flame war you predicted, everyone just agrees.
Re:Steve Jobs describes iCloud experience at WWDC 1997 on Wednesday June 08, 2011 @01:19PM (#2634066)
Exactly this, I think most would agree that Apple attempts to either do it right or not at all.
Re:Color had 5 photos posted at WWDC this morning on Monday June 06, 2011 @05:03PM (#2626638)
Eh, I don't think _how_ they're getting the word out is as important as the word _is_ out, and that instance at WWDC is a bit scary.
Re:How Jack Dorsey used Square to con VCs on Friday February 11, 2011 @11:46AM (#2207019)
What a badass.
Working as a web developer in the education sector, this gives me a great deal cautious hope for the future. About 90% of our visitors use IE because they are students in the classroom.
I thought it was pretty obvious he was referring to 2 sound-minded adults making a voluntary exchange.
Re:Thoughts on Flash on Thursday April 29, 2010 @10:45AM (#1304585)
I had precisely the same discussion yesterday with a new client. She didn't understand how our web application did not have a larger list of system requirements. She started repeating the situation in a louder, slower manner to help me understand.
Re:StackOverflow.com vs.Experts-Exchange.com on Monday March 22, 2010 @11:21AM (#1210486)
I couldn't imagine a better competition. I am utterly elated, as a junior developer, to have Stack Overflow as a resource as well as to see it knocking at Expert Exchanges' door.
Re:Apple's Tribute to Jerome B. York on Thursday March 18, 2010 @05:02PM (#1202492)
Even with added traffic, the conversion rate (visitors/buyers) given the tribute and no products on the front page has to be extremely low. Low enough that I tend to believe they are losing money for the sake of this.
Re:Apple's Tribute to Jerome B. York on Thursday March 18, 2010 @04:21PM (#1202384)
Don't doubt it, they are losing a significant portion of revenue-generating space on a commercial website in order to pay tribute to a fallen friend.
It is noted that the price is introductory.
Re:ManPacks.com - a different kind of startup on Monday March 08, 2010 @12:27PM (#1175819)
Consumerist propaganda? I can't imagine many people taking it that seriously. I do, in fact, buy new underclothes every 2-3 months only because I prefer the unworn feel. I'm sure many would agree. Looks like a startup with a not-so-novel idea, but a nice ordering interface and hopefully nice ordering process that will succeed.
Re:Is Chrome taking share from Firefox? on Monday March 08, 2010 @11:12AM (#1175615)
Same here. I use Firefox for development with Firebug at work, but I use Chrome at home.
Re:Microsoft sends flowers to IE6 funeral on Friday March 05, 2010 @06:29PM (#1170782)
Upvoted solely for having the same wish. Some may say I'm a dreamer.
Re:Jon Stewart: ChatRoulette on Friday March 05, 2010 @03:14PM (#1170360)
Tin foil hatted.
Re:Are Geeks The New Alpha Male? on Wednesday February 24, 2010 @06:40PM (#1149559)
No, I don't believe most women see a correlation between brains and money. I believe they see a correlation of displays of wealth and money. Duh.
Re:Newbie Fashion Tips for Grown-up Men on Friday February 19, 2010 @11:13AM (#1137225)
Another big guy reporting in. I tried a few different dress shirts and professional pants before I found one fit/type of each that I stuck with religiously. I used to have anxiety about clothes shopping, specifically for professional dress. Almost every article of clothing didn't fit well because of my belly. After finding 1 type of each (as mentioned in an earlier reply), I've never been happier with my wardrobe.
Re:Newbie Fashion Tips for Grown-up Men on Friday February 19, 2010 @11:09AM (#1137220)
" Express's 1MX shirts are a solid choice (http://bit.ly/cXBvxS) and very popular for this type of role."

Totally agreed. I dress semi-professional for work, and soon in decided that my entire work wardrobe would consist of Express 1MX shirts (non-fitted, non-bright colors) and black, standard fit, flat front Dockers.

Re: on Thursday February 11, 2010 @06:57PM (#1119157)
How did this make it to the front page?
I started with PHP/MySQL a few years ago and pronounced it My-S-Q-L. Having only read on web and in book the word, it was only after I began my current position as an ASP.NET/MSSQL developer did I begin hearing it pronounced Sequel. When I started the position, I was actually told that pronouncing it M-S-S-Q-L would result in the entire IT department pegging me as a novice.

I still use S-Q-L.

I caught this story on AbsolutePunk this morning. Sounded terribly awkward, but for every entrepreneurial success pitch there is sure to be one of these.
Re:How Apple Does Controlled Leaks on Wednesday January 06, 2010 @11:04AM (#1034923)
This article shouldn't be surprising to anyone with their ear to the ground for Apple news, but it certainly was nice to read from the former Senior Marketing Manager for Apple.
Re:Nexus One on Tuesday January 05, 2010 @02:14PM (#1033006)
Seems pretty sane to me, compared to other HTC phones' unsubsidized prices.
I laughed hysterically when I saw that at the top after reading the first few lines of the kb article.
Re:China bans individuals from registering domain names on Wednesday December 16, 2009 @11:19AM (#999053)
In what world are you living in that less competition is good?
Re:Reuters: Google phone with T-Mobile contract in Jan on Tuesday December 15, 2009 @02:27PM (#997160)
My reaction aloud was "Yeah, right."
Re:Reuters: Google phone with T-Mobile contract in Jan on Tuesday December 15, 2009 @11:12AM (#996728)
I couldn't agree more. I was stupefied when I saw this headline on HN.
Re:Pure CSS 3D effect on Monday December 14, 2009 @06:18PM (#995395)
I couldn't read the non-English portion of the post, but I took it only for the face value; being clever. Not necessarily better.
Re:AT&T to allow 3G Skype calls on Tuesday October 06, 2009 @05:58PM (#865405)
I thought the only reason given for rejecting Google Voice was that it would cause confusion with Apple's dialer? If they did announce Google Voice along with VoIP, there would be some backtracking, I'd imagine.
