Interesting episode about previous state-sanctioned hacks from North Korea on "The Rest is Classified" podcast

Interesting, kind of reminds me of SendCutSend
Re:SimCity, but with Permits on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @09:07AM (#50272949)
With CPDLC it can be inserted directly into the computer, when it's approved by the pilot.

Moving from America? They'd still owe taxes.

Tada! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controller%E2%80%93pilot_data_...

That always seemed so strange to me; the concept of a VIP lane _sort_ of makes sense if the criteria for entry is that you're an expert in the field, i.e. a logistics company or existing supplier of the NHS. Not just that you're friends with someone in a position of authority.

Speed brakes can be deployed manually I think.

Increase in traffic has broken the site
How many of those 30 are unarguably "bad" posts though? Threats of violence and so forth.
Re:Apple Music to open concert venue in Battersea Power Station on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @02:37AM (#49797472)
Presumably they’re putting it there because their corporate office is in the power station too.
The industry can't survive on people who see it as harmless fun, that's the problem.
Re:Saving Jet Fuel on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @07:50AM (#49725366)
Virgin Atlantic trialled this at Heathrow in 2006[0]. It looks like it didn't gain traction because the airport would need to be resigned to support it, and the landing gear might have been damaged by so much towing.

Re:Recreating Voodoo Graphics and a Late-1990s Gaming PC on an FPGA on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @05:24AM (#49723957)
I remember exactly that feeling; I had a cricket game where my PC met the minimum specs, but it ran terribly. That's the day I learned that minimum is not enough.
BA (and presumably other airlines) run fear-of-flying courses where you have some ground sessions with flight crew explaining what happens during takeoff/landing, what noises you might hear, etc. Then you go up for a short flight as a passenger to sort of re-enforce what you learned earlier.

Re:US diesel hits record $6 a gallon on Iran supply shock on Friday September 11, 2026 @05:12AM (#49655497)
And countries that import goods. If you supply chain needs diesel, you're going to be paying more.

We stayed in a hotel in Reims, France which had them. Controlled by a remote, and when they were down they completely blacked out the room too. Awesome.
Re:"It works better in the app " on Friday August 28, 2026 @12:00PM (#49480478)
Do they require it though? I've used a few, but it's always been a convenience thing to use the NFC-scanning app; the alternative is just typing in the details manually.
Re:Stripe said to abandon $50B pursuit of PayPal on Friday August 28, 2026 @04:47AM (#49476062)
For me it's slightly more convenient than manually entering CC details, but still less convenient than Apple/Google Pay where that's supported.
Ditto in the UK.
I didn't say it would be decent, just that it might make financial sense.
> building a worse version of AWS just so that it is "European" makes no financial sense

Unless it becomes necessary because of EU regulation?

That's a fair point, it would be more interesting to compare the salary to equivalent, family-owned private companies (although I'm sure most of them don't disclose that sort of thing).

Ah I see, I wasn't aware of the Cash ISA change too, thanks.
Wasn't it something like a 3-4% reduction in private school pupil numbers? And some of those would have ended up homeschooled rather than state.
