It's a generic version manager (replacing nvm/pyenv/etc). It also does direnv and tasks.

Re:The Lesson to Unlearn on Saturday December 07, 2019 @11:05AM (#21730942)
Of course, no one can understand everything, but he said, "pick a subject". Just one, not everything. I'm reminded of this description of a PhD:

> for any codebase

> Supports over 15+ languages & environments (JavaScript, Java, Ruby, Golang, PHP, etc...)

The title here is overly broad, bordering on click bait. I suggest it be edited to "for several popular languages".

Same here. I recall a "give pokemon go access to your google contacts" dialog (or similar), which I denied.

> So any task with `Parent-Id` will be a sub-task. If User owns the tasks he can see the subtasks tree also. but if you own the sub task alone, for you it is like a normal task with an out of scope parent.

That should work.

> Recursive tasks works exactly like recursive calendar events.

I'm not sure what a recursive calendar event is. Are you reading "recurring" instead of recursive?

> I have not thought about Sub-Projects, any suggestions?

The same `Parent-Id` solution as subtasks should also work here.

Re:Global Task Exchange Protocol on Saturday April 16, 2016 @12:06PM (#11511067)
An ambitious idea. Some questions immediately spring to mind.

> Task is owned by a Project. Project belongs to a User. User is a member of Domain.

Can Tasks have subtasks? Recursively? To an arbitrary depth?

Can Projects have subprojects? (see above)

I assume since a "User" is just an email address, a group email address would implement a "Group" at the "User" level?

In a company setting, Users (Contractors, Employees) come and go during the life of a Project. What happens to Tasks assigned to a User who leaves the (company|Domain|Project)?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_beaver#Behaviour

Beavers are best known for their dam-building. They maintain their pond-habitat by reacting quickly to the sound of running water, and damming it up with tree branches and mud. Early ecologists believed that this dam-building was an amazing feat of architectural planning, indicative of the beaver's high intellect. This theory was tested when a recording of running water was played in a field near a beaver pond. Despite the fact that it was on dry land, the beaver covered the tape player with branches and mud.

Re:Stop Changing UIs for No Good Reason on Thursday November 20, 2014 @11:28AM (#8636504)
No you can't. Tapping on the month shows you the days in the month, not your calendar events for the month.
Re:Stop Changing UIs for No Good Reason on Thursday November 20, 2014 @11:18AM (#8636435)
Nope. The three dot menu has Schedule, Day, 5 Day, Search and Refresh. There is no Month there.

By the way, limiting to 5 days is at best inflexible. Many people want to look at 7 days because, you know, that's a week.

> To me this is a major flaw in the design of Windows.

As much as possible, I use PortableApps on Windows. When I migrate to a new machine, all I need to do is copy the PortableApps folder.

I don't see this as a flaw in Windows. If every application developer/packager built portable apps, there wouldn't be a problem.

Here [1] is a good but necessarily incomplete summary of version control tool history, written by ESR.

Tom Lord does deserve much credit for DVCS concepts, but so do Larry McVoy (Bitkeeper) and Graydon Hoare (Monotone).

You can split hunks down to individual lines.

Also git-gui can stage individual lines.

A front facing camera already flips the image so that the user sees what they usually see when they look in a mirror. So one mirror would end up being right. Except when you open the camera app, the mobile site is no longer displaying the QR code.

Re:Docker: Git for deployment on Wednesday August 28, 2013 @02:17PM (#6291687)
Each docker RUN command is like a git commit. See those cache keys? Those are the commit sha1sums.

According to the article, you can roll back to a (any?) cache key and branch off into a new direction. I wonder about merges though.

What is it that you think sowhatquestion means by "sugar rush"? My guess is you think he means hyperactivity.

What is the difference between a diabetic glycemic excursion (what you said) and a postprandial glycemic excursion (what I linked)?

Re:Grep too slow? Use git-grep on Tuesday July 09, 2013 @06:42PM (#6016189)
In a packed repo, git grep can mmap the pack file once and search through it in one fell swoop. If the pack file isn't already in the filesystem buffer, mmap will get it there quickly. The number of system calls is O(1).

The limitation, as others have said, is git grep won't match files that are not already checked in.

In a regular directory tree, recursive grep has to open and read directories, stat files, and read (or mmap?) each individual file. The number of system calls is O(N) on the number of directory entries.

An honest mistake: Your form has 3 required fields but the user only filled out 2. This shouldn't require a trip to the server.

A hack attempt may be a direct POST circumventing any client side checks.
