Came to post this too. It was a great piece on it. I'm glad more people are becoming aware of them. They're starting to get out of control.
I definitely prefer the remix
I can't/can believe this and they make it seem like its a normal practice from your story. Pretty awful.

I left GD years ago after this - https://science.time.com/2011/04/04/godaddy-ceo-on-shooting-...

Not only did I hate their interface like you mentioned. Their customer service always sucked too. I moved a lot of TLDs off of there at my old job. Happy to say all the other companies I have used have been above and beyond better than GoDaddy.

Do some research and you'll find some great deals out there. Cloudflare, Hover, NameCheap offer great services IMO. Never had any issues with them.

lol so dumb but I get it. I'm not surprised at all. This is the future model of a lot of things to come.
Long live 3D Touch. I miss my XS Max only because of that.

I didn’t see a mention of Chris Farley. He says it in 2 of his movies from the 90s I believe.
It is a very similar feeling to the housing market crash in 2008. History repeats itself.
This reminds me of an old blog called "Regretsy." I can't seem to find it at the moment but it was pretty funny at the time.
TrikTok is not too far behind with those videos either

https://celsius.network/ is doing this too. Not good.
Re:Resident Evil Village in the browser through Stadia on Friday June 10, 2022 @09:51AM (#31694205)
yes, i agree. Its the same reason I still buy vinyl w/ music downloads and even 4k blu-rays of my favorite movies. Call me crazy, but I want the media in my possession!
Re:Apple’s Self Service Repair now available on Wednesday April 27, 2022 @11:21AM (#31181035)
Just a wild guess as I haven't looked into it, but it probably ends up cheaper to just get a new phone in the long run, right?
I really can't believe a group of people sat around and gave the green light to this thing from the start. It seems like such a bad idea from and before the start.
I agree! I hope it's real. Very exciting. I love so many classic GB games
Re:Ask HN: When did tech stop being cool? on Tuesday April 12, 2022 @10:34AM (#31003301)
I think saturation is a big part of it too. I feel almost overwhelmed when I start researching a new tech these days. I agree, I get a little bored now too.
Re:Etsy Strike on Monday April 11, 2022 @02:40PM (#30992871)
you're 100% correct. Very similar to Amazon and their 3rd party market. There is very little policing of the products being sold I feel like. Lots of knock offs and even things available for free being sold at a cost. (ie. ETSY USB sticks pre-loaded with freeware like Coin OPS X)
i'm not surprised. I've heard the same from many foreign friends. I think USA is one of the few if not the only country that makes YOU responsible and liable for your taxes. I always thought it was such BS when you hear about it from other countries

I feel like its all to keep accountant and lawyer jobs

Yes! I forgot all about that feature! That was cool.

If you think Apple's TASTE is bad, you should try TIDAL. Its really bad.
Re:Music subscriber market shares Q2 2021 on Thursday January 20, 2022 @03:47PM (#30014691)
There is a couples account option and I think its very close to the same price of a single sub.

Edit: its called Spotify Duo and its $12.99 vs $9.99 https://www.spotify.com/us/premium/#plans

Re:Music subscriber market shares Q2 2021 on Thursday January 20, 2022 @03:37PM (#30014520)
I made the switch last September from Spotify back to Apple Music.

1 reason and 1 reason only. Lossless. Why Spotify still doesn't offer this as an option is beyond me. I get that its a small amount of people who care but still why not offer it? I would pay a little more to use their service.

Re:1Password Has Raised $620M on Wednesday January 19, 2022 @10:29AM (#29994845)
I used to use Lastpass but once they were bought out, I bailed. Anytime I see these types of Password articles I always like to share that I've been using Dashlane for years and love it. Multi-platform and now its all browser based. The iOS app is great too. It also includes a VPN with the pro plan. https://www.dashlane.com/cs/1k5JfApcebh1
Re:LastPass users warned their master passwords are compromised on Tuesday December 28, 2021 @02:38PM (#29717106)
Hate to hear this, but I'm glad I bailed when LogMeIn bought them years ago.
