Re:Evidence that blood type plays a role in COVID-19 on Tuesday June 09, 2020 @03:20AM (#23464492)
Type A is wayyy more common than B or AB, at least in the US (and I think Europe?). Not sure about other regions. That could distort the effect, which looks to be fairly minor in the first place.

For what it's worth, it likely wasn't targeted. My understanding is that the search space is so short that you can just cycle through it until you find something.

Re:Effects of Daylight Saving Time on Traffic Accident Risk on Wednesday March 04, 2020 @01:26AM (#22481618)
Maybe so, but you can pretty reasonably assume that most people are awake and active at 1:00 PM in their time zone.

WeLive was similar to this. Wonder how they're doing these days?
> It seemed to me that credit cards were supposed to be fast and convenient, but if you're choreographed for cash, it ain't so.

This is very apparent in (many parts of) Europe. Cash is so much faster there than in America, for a few reasons. The primary cause, I think, is the fact that the prices are generally round numbers, with tax included. This means that you can, in most cases, pay with a small number of coins or bills. In the USA you'd be wrestling with pennies.

Also bubblesort is sometimes the best solution, for instance in very small lists or linked lists.

I use that a lot as well, along with K to look up the current word in the man page.
Re:Introducing a new kind of Wi-Fi system on Tuesday October 04, 2016 @11:44PM (#12641416)
That's terrible. What about:

- Proxy settings - MAC address cloning - Port forwarding - Strict security controls - Wifi bands, 2.4 vs 5GHz (I guess this is less important) - Logs

Is your question about Computer Science or programming?
Re:Amazon Is Quietly Eliminating List Prices on Tuesday July 05, 2016 @12:09AM (#12034353)
Didn't JCPenney try this? Didn't it go very poorly for them?
Did you try editing the DOM?
Don't be ridiculous. They probably type it into Microsoft Word.

Now 73% Leave.
Or nazi cats.
Wikipedia very unhelpfully tells me that SF has 17k/mi^2 and Berlin has 4k/km^2, which works out to about 10k/mi^2.
Phone is encrypted with the Secure Enclave -> that password is absolutely required to decrypt, if the phone has been turned off.

Edit: Failing any cold-boot attacks etc.

Not with the employer or manager, but with e.g. the busboy, dishie, line cook, cashier, etc. is allowed[0].

Because speech recognition occurs on Google servers, not locally.

Sort of reminds me of Windows.

Even just retyping the exact code helps me quite a bit.
BetterTouchTool lets me use three-finger tap.
For that reason, I'd prefer to see /no/ clicks go to new tabs by default, and let the user decide.

This is another potential vulnerability. If the app does not check a good signature, then it may be vulnerable to malicious update delivery.

This is exactly what jailbreaking fixes. By default, iOS does not allow you to install apps that are not published in the App Store.

Re:The format of strings in early (pre-C) Unix on Thursday January 07, 2016 @10:23PM (#10862718)
Are there any other types in C that allocate space on the heap? Is that even possible in C? Not C++; there we have std::string, which is much as you describe above.
Re:Radio stations that go all-Christmas in December on Thursday December 24, 2015 @02:38AM (#10787470)
Bluetooth, Spotify, Tasker to automatically choose playlists based on a few parameters, Google/Moto Now to add some manual control. I actually replaced my (busted) tape deck recently with a new head unit, and the improvement is thousandfold. Everything is automatic now.
Re:A hangover led to the discovery of ibuprofen on Monday November 16, 2015 @01:14AM (#10572912)
I don't think that's foolish. You get what you pay for.
It could have also been just a poorly mixed ad.

Math works the same way. Have you heard of the Ham Sandwich Theorem[1]?
