News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

choko

A rich and powerful person talking crap about other rich and powerful people. Excuse me if I don't pay attention.
It's really not. You don't have to like everything someone does to support them or accept their support. Purity tests are toxic, and it is a large problem on the left side of the aisle.
People ditching Teslas because they don't like Elon is political though. If you want to nut-pick between the two sides, we are going to be here a long time.

Anti-semitic trash. Flagged.
Many people use marijuana for sleep. Are you really sure no one has ever fallen asleep at the wheel due to marijuana use? It seems like a bold claim.
Re:Tesla to lay off more than 10% of its staff on Monday April 15, 2024 @07:50AM (#40039266)
I don't think that's what is holding ev back. They need to put more into battery research. They are too heavy, charge too slow, and lose capacity in cold temps. In addition, I can't find a charger within 15 or 20 min of my house, but there's probably 20 gas stations in that radius. I'll buy electric once it's not a pain in the ass.

Id rather pay more and have no Chinese involvement. China is not your friend.
Re:Tesla to lay off more than 10% of its staff on Monday April 15, 2024 @07:45AM (#40039224)
Anyone that says they won't buy a Tesla due to Elon's antics but will buy a Chinese EV is a hypocrite. China is a fascist state and no company does anything without party involvement.

Just be honest. Musk is too conservative for you and it's easy to cherry pick tweets (after context has been adequately explained) and make up a reason that doesn't make you sound like an unreasonable partisan. You want to seem different from the boycott Target/Bud lite crowd, but you aren't. You might as well be honest about it.
Re:Decline Invitations on Sunday March 17, 2024 @11:33AM (#39735140)
If your stand-ups are a waste of time, consider making it less status-y and more collaborative. We lengthed ours a bit and encouraged more dialog rather than just focusing on the traditional 3 questions (what did you work on since last standup, what are you doing before next standup, and where are you blocked) and it's been much more productive.
Probably because they knew they could have it validated or invalidated for a small fee. The article explains this.

You have an extremely inaccurate and flawed understanding of conservativism. It's like you have concocted a view based on stereotypes and MSNBC editorials. Or are you deliberately misrepresenting?
Funny because I only drink coke if it comes from McDonald's. I always thought it tasted a little different but didn't know why.

Corporate users don't generally have control period. Keep your personal stuff away from the work laptop. TLS is useless on a machine you don't control.

Trust and fear aren't remotely the same.

"You can't manage to take a billion people out of poverty without one, sadly."

Please elaborate and defend.

The problem isn't hypothetical. It's literally happening in front of your eyes and you cheer it on.

Because there are allegations that he was peddling access to his father while his father was VP which may be backed up by emails on said laptop. Now that it's confirmed as genuine, an investigation needs to be done. We would demand nothing less if this were the previous president.

Their content is basically advertising their brand to their fans though. Stephen King can announce a book tour or new title and reach millions of fans for a meager 20 bucks a month. On the flip side, I personally don't need to have celebrities on the platform to see the value. When Twitter started there were no celebrities on there and they only got involved once it took off because it is a cost effective way of reaching fans.

His long term outlook is very poor though. Judgements will likely be reduced (if Jones co-operates with the court this time) but he'll be lucky to have a home when everything is over.

Misinformation like that the Biden laptop is a Russian conspiracy?
So other high officials, and Putin's likely successor making threats means nothing? You're really splitting hairs here man.
Yeah you definitely missed it. See the link below. Kadyrov is also one of the likely successors to Putin.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-says-its-troops-...

You don't have to have a better plan to recognize a bad one. This is why we elect people to office, to come up with better plans!
Serious question: Do you really think that Russia poses that kind of threat? We've seen how woefully their military has performed. There is no chance that Russia would be able to start rolling through Europe the same way Germany did. Especially now that they are so depleted that they are conscripting. I'm not saying appeasement is the way, but comparing this situation to Germany in the 30s is a bit off the mark.

Free market conservatives don't necessarily hate zoning.
Re:Even After $100B, Self-Driving Cars Are Going Nowhere on Thursday October 06, 2022 @08:02AM (#33107137)
Public transportation is an option in places that have the population density to support it. That is a huge part of the USA, not "fringe".
It seems like you have a characterized and absurdist view of libertarianism. Libertarianism is primarily about maximizing individual liberty, not the ultra-capitalist, amoral view you seem to have. Libertarians aren't anarchists (ignoring the various fringe anarcho-whatevers that espouse a government type that is impossible).
Re:What to Do If a Nuclear Disaster Is Imminent on Thursday September 29, 2022 @10:32AM (#33021230)
Even in the US, a lot of us didn't think Putin would actually invade since it looked like such a disasterous tactical move. It turns out a lot of people underestimated Russia's suicidal tendencies.
Re:What to Do If a Nuclear Disaster Is Imminent on Thursday September 29, 2022 @10:24AM (#33021060)
It's not like we're allowed to choose leaders from the population at large. We are generally stuck voting for the people that run for office. Quite often, there are few choices and none of them are very good.
