Now that's a textbook strawman
did you actually verify that it's output in those scenarios is good ? in my experience opus has been a disappointment and constantly trailing behind actually solving hard problems versus the OpenAI models.
I'll say that both have terrible writing style though.
I think that would be more of ASI than AGI, AGI is a smart human, I'd say we're pretty close if not already there for most stuff we've been focusing on like coding.
ASI is a super genius, beyond the smartest human, and we're nowhere near that. But as we've already seen with LLMs you don't need to wait for ASI to solve hard problems in math and physics.
But is it byte for byte identical ?
Your experience sounds really interesting, can you tell us more ?
I mean sure, you can add a third, and a fourth and a fifth one if ur ok with the added cost, latency and it actually helps. Redundancy is a core concept in software and CS and at the heart of making many systems, complex or otherwise, reliable.
What you want can be accomplished with an extra doc, call it the Log, where the llm appends things tried, lessons learned, failed experiments etc.. while leaving the comments as terse accurate snapshot of the current state. I've been using this log pattern and it works well.
from my experience they're actually much lower than people think, especially when using Postgres for things it's not well-suited for like queuing, and the problem is you rarely can just throw more hardware at it to solve the problem and it's really not a good place to be.
you really went digging with that 3 months old hn comment. What's wrong with that comment btw? Are you saying he was lying and they did in fact commit to the rewrite at that point?
It was communicated fine, can you be more specific ?
it's not the way to go if you hit the limits very quickly and have to waste immense time migrating.
Thw bottleneck become compiling and running the code every iteration so it wont be seconds
This has not been my experience at all with gpt sol on ultra/max. Some concurrent code is just really really hard to write and even in those cases LLMs can help, the barrier for extensive thorough testing and writing your own custom simulator, liveness and correctness tests is simply so much lower now.
Do you think diffusion models or models that generate video and image are conscious? I'd say most people who think LLMs are conscious don't think the same way about non-chattng models ( unless you ask them then they might say "sure" in an attempt to remain consistent).
My point is it's the interaction medium that's causing the confusion and causinf this psychosis that's tricking people into feeling like they're talking to someone.
LLMs are not conscious, sams as google chrome, same as GTA 5, same as your latest python script.
I think you both are missing the point. Hes sayin larry is inhuman, hes closer to an apex predator or a serial killer freak of nature than your ordinary human
nah. I have no horse in this race in fact before this blog I had high regards for andrew and zig, less-so after this blog.
You're accusing me of cherry picking, can you explain how these are cherry picked ? do you even know what cherry picking means ? maybe explain the important context for "Jarred was already writing slop well before he had access to LLMs" that I omitted apparently.
> Incredible the different takeaways people get from text content on the internet
It is incredible isn't it.
"Jarred was already writing slop well before he had access to LLMs"
"The grapevine was large and healthy and full of juicy grapes, and all those grapes contained the juice of the same message: Jarred was a stinky manager. Poor communication, unrealistic expectations, low empathy, no experience. Just a total shit show, from an employment perspective."
"at some point they would sell out (let's be honest, their vague "sell some cloud something" business plan was a farce from the get-go"
"he was essentially groomed from a young age into uncritically embracing the Silicon Valley mindset"
There is more but I'll stop quoting to not end up copying the whole thing.
We've read the andrew blog. It is a personal attack a very petty one, you're clearly a biased fan of his and of zig probably if you cannot see the obvious, but we're telling you as outsiders how poorly it reflects on andrew and the future of zig, and this is coming from someone who originally had a very good opinion of zig and andrew, now not so much.
You can choose to ignore that and engage in the massive circlejerk zig fans are engaging in during this or maybe take a second and reconsider
He is good, yes. There are are a lot of really good programmers, his fanboyschere make him sound like super genius mr.robot its so tacky and cringe. What did he really accomplish
Well thats why his prediction is interesting. Hes saying they wont be ok in a couple of years. Of course theyll be there, programming languages dont really die but theyll be a shell of what was once believed to be their potential, a superior replacement for C
Man these are some impressive mental gymnastics... yes its an insult, made very public. It, and the rest of the insults, are very disrespectful and reflects very poorly on andrew and paints him as petty and childish
Did you actually read it ? "Stinky manager" "alreay writing slop before llm" and nore insults, cmon now...
Are those infamous lefty iq deniers with us in the room right now? Gosh this must be keeping you up at night
Sure, technically you are correct, i cant prove that im not a schizophrenic hallucinating everything including 2+2=4 and including this discussion. But starting from a reasonable point of beliefs that we accept it is fair to say 2+2=4 will just hold universally when counting discrete things.
A tool that can automate all of thinking and all of cognitive problem solving. I'd say very different yes.
I actually find your argument to be the lazy and reductive one, and im surprised how many folks just parrot it confidently.
This is clearly not like any other tool, what it can do, and more importantly the range of what it can mimic and pretend to do to a highly plausible degree is something humanity did not witness anything close to, ever.
The closest thing i can think of is high speed internet porn and its impact on generations that grew up addicted to it. I can only imagine what AI porn will do to the upcoming generations, and more generally what AI will do to their cognition
By definition it should obvious the million-user server is a popular feature since it has a million user.
I mean yeah... You kind of have to learn this stuff (performance engineering) by yourself (a strong education background helps a lot of course). There are transferable parts of it and there are platform-specific parts where you need to be somewhat familiar with GPUs.
how are you so sure the afterlife does not exist
