Re:Ask HN: How can I escape my third-world country? on Saturday October 03, 2020 @05:34AM (#24670794)
If you are a developer or related to IT area, in Costa Rica though is a third-world country life is descent (I'm Venezuelan living in CR), look for opportunities in LinkedIn (where most of the job market here is), there are companies that sponsor work visa and your family can come too (mine is here). Also (not necessarily related to your question) Costa Rica announced they started working on a law to have "digital nomads" work here for a "long" period of time

Same here, developer with a 2.5yo kid at home.

1. I do not recommend screen time for kids - https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/12/how-does-screen-time-...

2. I bought a dozen of books, like fair stories, animals where pictures can put your kid to imagine, question and discovery new things. He spends a lot of time here

3. I bought a small speaker (kid-proof?) that I use to put playlists for kids, with time he started singing the songs and that was just a way to spend time for him 4. I put ideas in his head like "wow, this is Spiderman" (while showing it from my phone) then I bought a Spiderman toy and now is one of his favorites toys 5. Pla-doh, just make sure he understand is not something to eat or to mix it with other objects 6. Crayola stuff - https://www.crayola.com/athome 7. Audiobooks or podcasts for kids

Again, please do not use screen. I did it for few months as an option to let him discover new topics and he woke up in the middle of the night crying and screaming about stuff he watched

I would suggest https://notion.so. It's not an open source product but I like their UX approach
yes. Actually I don't mind to pay if that's something that will help me to keep my mind organized so I can minimize brain mistakes
what if you try to focus on something that you really want to do and not on something you have to do?. i.e. Plan to visit a new country and work from there a couple of weeks. Something that I did when I felt like that is check all the meetups around town and meet really interesting people that ended up being good friends and help me to see things with a different point of view
