Indo european languages mostly, probably

Small correction: Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian and the Sámi languages of the very North are also not Indo-European, but Uralic languages. Not isolates though.

They are basically asserts that you can put in headers. Which is great because asserts are usually useless to IDEs because you only get the headers for libraries.

And with the 'observe' mode you can turn them on in production code right away and collect data without a failed assert terminating.

0.11 to 0.25 is not even a 150% increase
How does firebombing the British PMs home benefit Russia? How does flying explosive laden drones into European airports benefit them? How does bombing Kiev benefit them? Russia still does it

Is the improvement from using std:variant vs polymorphism just due to the indirection you save on?

Yes, but but but evil regulations and bureaucracy

Re:Implementation of GCC's Nested Functions (vs. C++ Lambdas) on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @12:16AM (#49620892)
Can't you convert non-capturing lambdas to function pointers?
Re:Dyson CameraJet: The only toothbrush with a camera and a jet on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @10:44AM (#49537096)
That whole mouth brush is also crazy exspensive, while I'd assume Philips' Sonicare line is well and profitable
Re:Could We Dredge the Netherlands Without Fossil Fuels? on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @03:15AM (#49518983)
Yeah, I think they usually move them with tractors that have a special attachment that sort of holds them
Re:C++26: Standard Library Hardening Experiments on Monday August 31, 2026 @11:29AM (#49510939)
They solve completely different problems though
Re:Could We Dredge the Netherlands Without Fossil Fuels? on Monday August 24, 2026 @02:01PM (#49423596)
Those giant bucket wheel excavators are also electrically powered, by cables. And they use up to 16 MW, so I wouldn't call it completely unrealistic.

Of course running them over some dirt is easier than through possibly moving water, but still.

I guess probably only take the pill n out of 7 days a week? With the long half life you'd probably get the same effect as cutting the pills
Re:Taxi drivers rarely die of Alzheimer's on Monday August 10, 2026 @04:19AM (#49240841)
You'd also need to mount them facing up, pretty inconvenient when driving
But them it's more like AI assisted performance fuzzing? Just throw stuff against some measuring harness and see what sticks?
If you translate English literally (a very analytical language) to a very synthetic language (eg. Latin), it also sounds like caveman spreak
Re:German Peasants' War on Monday July 27, 2026 @11:45AM (#49071250)
tábor is also Czech for "camp" (probably the same in Polish/Slovak, but originally from Turkic I think).

Whether the town or term came first...

Russia has had more casualties than the UK/US/France combined in WW2
Re:German Peasants' War on Sunday July 26, 2026 @07:35AM (#49057059)
Same for the Hussites in Bohemia (although a bit earlier, but pretty similar).

With Jan Žižka they also had arguably one of the best commanders in history, up there with Alexander and Hanibal

Re:An ESP32 based plane radar for my desk on Sunday July 26, 2026 @04:21AM (#49055888)
The browser connects to a webserver running on the ESP32. Over wifi -> over the air. OTA doesn't mean headless or automatic

GPS is over 1 GHz, but I don't think you need to have a microcontroller running that fast to decode it?

Re:The PImpl idiom and the C++26 std:indirect type on Friday July 24, 2026 @05:03AM (#49032974)
The C++ core guideline support library has it.

https://github.com/microsoft/GSL/blob/main/docs/headers.md#u...

What do you mean by move-out unique_ptr? That the not_null ptr type would ne null after it's been moved?

In that case that's just a plain usage error, same as how you could memset it to null.

I don't think Iran has SOTA air defences, compared to what the US and Ukraine are using.
