That reminds me of a story my friend from the UK told me. A native American youngster is taken to a cathedral, and when he asked what the purpose of the building is his guide told him that it was for worshipping. The child then led the guide out into the wilderness to a very majestic scene, and told the guide "this is where we worship."

Less is more. One also needs good words. Read Hemingway for curtness and directness. It is a more satisfying read than something sophisticated and belabored. Capturing the right note in the simplest melody is more catchy and powerful than a complex fugue or sermon. To be concise, one needs to appreciate the flexibility and multiple facets of "simple" words.

Unions are an emblem of the need for one's share of the wealth and for meaningful work in the world. The industrial age may have made us productive, but at the cost of creative exploration that is vital now.
