Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:55PM (#50293213)
My kids have touch-screen Windows laptops. I absolutely hate the experience. It adds so little over a good trackpad.

And now Apple may force UI components to be big enough for touch control….

Re:MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch on Thursday October 29, 2026 @09:59AM (#50289168)
Exactly

What I want is a do-not Touch-screen

Trackpad is enough, and closer to where I am already busy touching the keyboard

Great site
Re:iPhone Duo Teardown on Monday October 26, 2026 @02:31AM (#50239871)
So much this. So often these days you’re looking for some info, think you found it…, and it’s some endless video, instead of simple text+image format.

”A significant portion of people complain about the crease, light reflections…”

Not a fan boy, but ‘a significant portion of people’ ?

All we’ve seen is influencing grifters <retches> falling over each other in nauseating attempts to ride this new hype-wave.

Your IP address, IP address-location data, device ID, the pages you visit using Dia and queries submitted, and other “User Content”.

Indeed, doesn’t look good at all.

Every time a meeting is canceled, an angel gets its wings
Re:The ovary doesn't retire after menopause on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @05:55AM (#50163637)
The gut microbiome has importance far beyond digestion - even for humans consuming nutrient-dense food.

lol, he won’t mind, he’s a Comic Sans peur
He’s very font of it

”most people assume those ovaries are just sitting there doing nothing, similar to the appendix,” said co-corresponding author

In reality the appendix vermiformis serves as a reservoir for gut bacteria (useful), and possibly supports the immune system

Re:/dev/null: social network for developers on Sunday October 18, 2026 @02:32AM (#50138442)
/dev/null has the connotation that whatever you say will be completely ignored. If you need a pun, why not go for

/dev/mull, same wordplay, but now we get to mull over each other’s posts

Re:/dev/null: social network for developers on Sunday October 18, 2026 @02:25AM (#50138404)
Yeah, /dev is not ‘developer’. Next someone will come up with

/usr/social

assuming it’s ‘user’

Best comment by a mile, I mean a light-year, I mean a petameter
Can’t we teach a flock of crows to take a daily shit on the cameras of said f*cking company ?
Re:Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men on Thursday October 15, 2026 @12:42AM (#50099232)
Thx - that’s a valid point

“Physical jobs will drop in demand too”

Why?

Re:Fingerprints Are the New Cookies on Monday October 12, 2026 @06:32AM (#50054307)
Yes, I believe they initially really meant it when making their “don’t be evil” statement.

The company as a whole also really stopped caring at some point and are now following the “do be evil” paradigm

Re:Fingerprints Are the New Cookies on Monday October 12, 2026 @06:25AM (#50054237)
I’m sure the Meta’s and Google’s on this planet will all faithfully honor our “do not track” requests.
Re:The 15-year search for a band that charted once and vanished on Thursday October 08, 2026 @04:44AM (#50003360)
Great story - thanks for posting it here!
Re:Surely you have ultra-wideband radios on your bins too? on Sunday October 04, 2026 @01:01PM (#49955649)
I know, just LOL. My “home assistant” would frown at me for the “home assistant” epitheton.
Re:Surely you have ultra-wideband radios on your bins too? on Sunday October 04, 2026 @10:52AM (#49954418)
LOL, you’re taking about OpenClaw, right? The neural network not only takes out the bins but also starts posting on HN
Yes, just installed from source and saw the name change.

Really liked the onboarding! (kudos - definitely not something that could be one-shot vibe-coded)

Apart from the confusing co-pilot invocation, this looks really cool! Will try it out.
Jev Goldblum? He’s all the hype today
Re:Dropbox's Jan 1st 2027 terms of service on Monday September 21, 2026 @08:53AM (#49786671)
The last thing I want to do is harass people online.

I care about HN and dislike bots and automated posting taking away real human interaction. You're not a bot - which I had already noted from your profile - and I have no problem with people posting frequently; and even if I did, that would be as valuable as any random person's opinion. So please don't let my error keep you from being you.

Re:Dropbox's Jan 1st 2027 terms of service on Monday September 21, 2026 @02:04AM (#49783547)
I stand corrected. You posted only 6 submissions in the last 24 hours. Not my place to judge you. (I used the Hack for HN app on iOS which, incorrectly, showed 50 hits). I apologize.
