Hmm. Maybe google "Hoover Institution".
Most travel modes have a downside. For example, car and suv drivers routinely speed through pedestrian crossings and kill large numbers of pedestrians.

Scooters may be annoying, but at least they aren't deadly.

It can discuss the nature of intelligence, for example.
Some hedge funds may have lost billions, but frackers are printing money at current price levels.

Health insurance. Which manufacturing companies in other countries don't have to deal with.

Solar PV, battery technologies, and smart phone transaction systems are areas where China is playing a leading role. They are competitive in EVs and Automated Vehicles. I'm sure there are others. The US isn't even in the game any more for many consumer products.
My experience is that the rich kids mostly bring food, because the cafeteria food is terrible.
Re:Datadog dashboard for the Texas power grid on Monday July 25, 2022 @08:18AM (#32223310)
That's a big problem in most of the US, especially the Coasts. Not so much in Texas.
Nope. My kid got taught about the evil Crusaders attacking the innocent Muslims.
Re:TITO: Electric Argentine car on Tuesday June 21, 2022 @05:18PM (#31829223)
It would meet a need in the US if restricted to low-speed roads, eg for older drivers. Maybe young drivers and low-income people too. At low speed you just don't need a lot of the fancy stuff.

Also add: - debt service related to infrastructure - higher transportation related costs, eg for school buses, fire fighting, parking related building costs But I agree Strongtown arguments tend to ignore other big cost categories.
If you define collectivism is group activity enforced by violence vs voluntarism being group activity not enforced by violence then this entire discussion is a word game and a waste of time.

This was a pretty small slice of the stimulus.

Not "Fifth largest in this part of the country"

Rather "Fifth largest .. this year in the lower 48 U.S. states", which is pretty large area.

And the reps are often smoking hot, so docs don't mind making a bit of time for conversation.

A local term for one group of neighbors is "Massholes", so guess the feeling is mutual.

So the interstate commerce clause was created why?
They are. Single family zoning and minimum lot sizes make it illegal to respond to market signals for more housing supply.

Not just in-memory. It's pretty convenient if you have a set of Parquet files with common schema. Fairly snappy and doesn't have to fit in memory.
Re:Ivermectin shows that not all science is worth following on Sunday October 24, 2021 @10:15AM (#28978096)
Seems like governments should be funding proper studies, as they might benefit from a low cost treatment option.
Google up marketing posters. You will see many of the same names and faces, a prominent example being Michael Flynn.
My point is that those working to undermine or overturn democracy are using freedom to expression to undermine that very freedom. That is outside the bounds of toleration.

A case in point is Christina Bobb, who works as a propagandist for OANN under 1st amendment journalistic protections, but showed her true colors on Jan 6 by working with Rudy G and John Eastman at the Willard to overturn the election result. At that point I think she is no longer entitled to legal protections afforded journalists.

It does though. The election fraud narrative and covid anti-vaxx efforts are being driven by many of the same forces. One public point of nexus is "Faith and Freedom" and "Health and Freedom" Conferences which overlap each other and "Stop the Steal"/Jan6.
This is true for core instruction but not sports and other extracurricular, which are Pay-fors in many parts of the US. Robert Putnam's "Our Kids" (great book!) is eloquent on the costs and consequences.
Re:What Is Social Cooling? on Wednesday January 13, 2021 @12:19PM (#25765080)
I think what is needed must run much deeper than self-suppression. It is time for us to look within and cool off within ourselves so that we can speak and act without hate.
Re:How Silicon Valley destroyed Parler on Tuesday January 12, 2021 @08:39PM (#25756859)
There were open calls for revolution on Twitter. I reported them to Twitter, friends, and the capitol police the weekend before.

"waiting until they are more sure" implies that they will get there in the end. But it looks like only a minority of Americans ever reaches that point. Most non-college graduates aren't getting there.
