Re:Slate EV truck starts at $24,950 on Wednesday June 24, 2026 @09:46AM (#48659762)
Presumably you could reconfigure it easily later. Which seems like a plus
Its not clear to me why youd need a tool to do this. Arent transactions and queue (say with celery) easy to write?
Re:How to think about durable execution on Friday December 19, 2025 @11:58AM (#46328067)
I don't see how the frameworks solve anything more than organising some tasks in a sequence. The underlying tasks still have to be idempotent.

Please do refute. I'm genuinely interested in this problem as I deal with it daily.

It bothered me that you called your self promotion nasty. Not sure why. You made something, i see no harm in sharing it.

Just thought this as i glanced your post. See you later!

Tanha is about wholesome and unwholesome desires, ie those that lead to or dont lead to liberation. Its not about desires that do or do not change you, as this article is categorizing it.
Re:I hate screenshots of text on Monday November 10, 2025 @11:29PM (#45884124)
Screenshots preserve exactly what the user sees, and for this reason i believe they are the best format for evidence. They also preserve their look when your messaging software starts doing funny things with it. They are immune to accidental edits. They are reliable in the sense that if the original source ever changed, no one would argue that you didnt see what you saw with a screenshot. They wont degrade when the content of a url changes.

We do use screenshots extensively, but alongside links and copied text when necessary

Re:Self Propagating NPM Malware Compromises over 40 Packages on Wednesday September 17, 2025 @10:26AM (#45276234)
Why cant we hash libraries and trusted parties publish security checked hashes?
Re:Web Locks API on Monday November 11, 2024 @02:55AM (#42105272)
I assume this is at the browser "session" level? In another browser, or private-session, would the locks be distinct?
Re:Founder Mode on Sunday September 01, 2024 @04:30PM (#41420109)
You hold the vision, so tell people whatever you want. That's my interpretation.
This reminds me of dependent origination from Buddhism.
Re:What Monks Know about Focus on Sunday March 10, 2024 @05:35AM (#39657857)
I suspect the reason is because Buddhism is lumped in with the other major world religions, and therefore considered a form of faith or belief. If the author knew Buddhism well then they would realise that couldn't be further from the truth.

Another possibility has occurred to me: they know Buddhism but don't want to scare away readers that have the above misconception. Actually I often find myself avoiding Buddhist terminology when I'm asked about my meditation practices.

How could you know when some phenomenon is an artefact of a simulator Vs an artefact of the universe we are in?
I find the simulation argument is little different in nature to the argument that because something exists, someone (a god) must have made it.

And I think humans are highly susceptible to creating explanations without evidence.

Re:Google Drive has lost user data on Sunday November 26, 2023 @11:34PM (#38428088)
Does anyone have recommendations on how to protect against this kind of thing?
Re:Google Drive has lost user data on Sunday November 26, 2023 @11:30PM (#38428062)
This is awful.
Re:Suddenly I Understand Software on Saturday November 18, 2023 @05:23PM (#38325250)
My definition of model would include the one in your mind, whether or not it may be communicated.
I'm pretty sure Buddhism is what you want
No. They are special.

I'm being facetious. Take note all ye.

Re:Understanding DeepMind's Sorting Algorithm on Monday June 12, 2023 @05:10PM (#36301182)
Why is sorting not done by specialised hardware? Or is it already?
Re:Starting Forth [pdf] on Friday December 02, 2022 @02:02AM (#33827728)
Out of interest, what other books (in this field) have you read, and would recommend?
Re:The lazy mysticism of Alan Watts on Sunday October 30, 2022 @03:46AM (#33392143)
Insight meditation
Time doesn't exist though right?
I think avoid them. I have worked in maybe 10 different companies as a consultant and I get the feeling that the grit required is often needed to deal with poor internal practices or systems. If the work is simply hard, that to me should translate to needed skilled workers, not gritty ones.
Isn't "thing" another word that is like "jawn"?
Re:Improper Nouns on Friday September 02, 2022 @03:04AM (#32687539)
Is it on purpose that "improper noun" is itself an "improper noun"?
Re:Things people blamed on bicycles on Wednesday August 24, 2022 @02:43PM (#32583930)
This explains so much. Though nothing about bicycles
Everything begets itself
These are problems created by concepts. Drop concepts, ideally. Or change your concepts if that is easier.
Re:How to manage software developers without micromanaging on Monday February 14, 2022 @03:44PM (#30338056)
I was going to say basically this.

Let me add a thought. You manage something that needs managing, that is to say, problems. If you see people as problems, then you are the problem.
