yeah... as someone that has used both. Asana sucks.
To add to this - universal health care.

This is very important for immigrants who have families. Basically, immigrating to Canada means you have freedom, stability, and health for you and your loved ones.

So approx. ~$100K average per year.

Ecobee, WealthSimple, Shopify,
I'm from Toronto but did 3 year stint in SF and then a 4 year stint in NYC. I moved back to Toronto last year to purchase and settle into my home base. Love it here.

These comments are hilarious and so typical of Toronto - there is a reason it's called the "screwface capital" of the world and I think it really rings true.

Re:Ask HN: Is Magic Leap just vaporware? on Wednesday August 01, 2018 @03:15PM (#17665950)
I watched the livestream they did on twitch demoing some of their libraries and it looked terrible.

The AR mapping looked like what snapchat had a year ago.

Re:Uber shuts down self-driving trucks unit on Monday July 30, 2018 @09:28PM (#17649837)
lol, re: uber eats - are you serious?
This. Spotify should be worried about the growth of Apple music - which is only available on iPhone's but already have 50% of the subscribers?

Then you account for the other big platform which is Google Music... I don't see a play for spotify here.

lol what does this even mean
they successfully raised crowdfunding..
In general, software design/development is a completely different set of skills then sysadmin/devops.

They do overlap when you need to actually deploy your app.

Your CEO's job is to build vision and hype. He's supposed to look toward the future - the eventuality of what you guys are working towards.

This is so facepalm/cringe and typical of engineers who think they know better and everyone is an idiot lol.

this.

I've seen so many "senior leaders" jump into a project and try to implement these types of "textbook processes" when in fact they don't solve any of the issues at all.

The project just gets dragged out, etc.

the crops that cattle eat are generally not the same as the crops that humans want to consume.
Re:Ask HN: What steps can I take to earn $250K+? on Friday July 13, 2018 @11:58AM (#17524039)
$250K salary + RSUs? Or $250K total compensation?

Because the latter isn't that great with the COL in the Bay area. Also, if the company isn't already public... then forget about the RSUs!

considering the average price to own in Toronto is approaching $1M and rental vacancy is nearing 1% this comment sounds like beggars choosing.
As someone who lives in CityPlace, it's actually a pretty awesome area to live for young professionals. Right smack downtown, close to pretty much everything - work/offices, parks, bars/restaurants, delivery (same day Amazon Prime, all downtown restaurants on Uber Eats), transit, walking distance to every major sports arena, etc.

Not to mention massive growth in the area has lead to a lot of attention and investment from the city... seems to only be getting better every year.

No idea where you got the idea that it was "soulless"? Perhaps because it is a relatively new development/area... there is massive construction going up everywhere in the area including 2 new schools and community center right in the middle of canoe landing park: http://urbantoronto.ca/news/2017/09/cityplace-finally-gettin...
