“because using Claude to infringe IP is against our usage policy”

Claude is IP infringement incarnate, is it not?

“Black October” sounds a lot like Red Scare.
Clearly potentially profitable. Not clearly profitable.

“AGI” has been achieved - but only as a growth hype buzzword.
Re:Apple: Switch to Safari (From Chrome) on Monday October 19, 2026 @10:34AM (#50153012)
Well, I tried... I keep multiple tabs open for daily work. Safari just blanks them out seemingly at will. The tab still has the title of the site in it, but the page is blank, the url bar is blank, no option to refresh. It's just gone, like I opened a brand new tab. Maybe I'll try again in another year.

Filling iOS with ads?

Help those of us who don’t fully comprehend it - explain. Share some sources and materials for the rest of us to gain a better understanding of the dangers.

What is “getting LLMs to prompt other LLMs” if not a prompt?

Profit. Always.
Re:Barcodes are about to go extinct on Saturday October 03, 2026 @04:19PM (#49947411)
The trajectory of this is heavily optimized packaging design, isn’t it? Which overshoots simple codes integrated with any design.
Re:Ask HN: What're You Reading? on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @10:16AM (#49909335)
Lonesome Dove has been mentioned many times in this thread. Was it recently revealed/brought up on a tech blog or is this some sort of AI-related “what should I read” convergence? Not at all a criticism, but curiosity.

I just finally finished “The Ferryman” (Justin Cronin), and “Vera, or Faith” (Shteyngart). I have “Reverse Centaur” (Doctorow) open and “Rainbow’s End” (Vernor Vinge) on deck.

> To be fair

Opening with “to be fair” doesn’t make a straw man fair.

Re:Has Violence Against Teachers Become Accepted by Society? on Monday September 28, 2026 @11:03AM (#49879170)
Yes.
Re:Has Violence Against Teachers Become Accepted by Society? on Monday September 28, 2026 @10:57AM (#49879069)
What do you propose other than “lol” and sarcasm?

Society at large has tools and systems in place to better deal with a violent person, student or otherwise.

I wasn’t referencing anything specific, but a general response to how/why many companies can’t or won’t do business in the United States.
Lobbying/bribes. Same as always. Or was that rhetorical?
No worries. :)

I don’t. Please see original comment.

And Michael Scott declares bankruptcy. Newsworthy?

Your assumption I’m watching is invalid.

I have zero expectations of any business. If they have an expectation to be paid then they need to offer something of value. Their costs to operate are not my concern.

Block domain, report spam. It’s a tiny yet satisfying action each day.
Re:I spent $220 on Google app ads. 60% of the installs were robots on Saturday September 12, 2026 @08:11AM (#49671517)
The moment the cost went from free to more-than-free is “when that happened.” I’m not willing to participate.

Corporate greed ≠ inflation
I don’t use YouTube at all but I can still answer - Because $16 will become $20, $30, $50 … and then they will begin to show ads again anyway.
Is this a typo? 20 min ad?! I don’t use YouTube.
Reddit may be the most manipulated social media there is.
Well, open it…
And when that developer copies and pastes useful code snippets from the internet into this product you’ve commissioned them to create? Also not copyrightable?
