Not thrilled about the trend of services over products.

I’ve been using GoodNotes 5 for a while now and am really satisfied.

One time purchase with iCloud sync with all devices.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/goodnotes-5/id1444383602

doesn't work anymore as it just redirects. assuming author was told to take site down.
I thought this story was about this house x-)

Re:Apple removes $1k featureless iPhone application (2008) on Sunday February 28, 2021 @07:25PM (#26298443)
I remember when this happened. I think it was just a sprite of a jewel like a ruby or sapphire as of that was it.

I don’t know if anyone actually bought it. I think the description stated that it really didn’t do anything but was just for bragging rights.

Definitely bad and needs international attention.

China’s soft power will ensure that most countries won’t go beyond the usual virtue signaling.

Also keep in mind that the USA still has the most imprisoned people in the world by a large margin:

2020: 1. Covid 2. Polic Brutality 3. Cicadas 4. Global Thermal Nuclear war

Yep....

Hey, it's only a "3% fizzle reaction". How bad can that be?

Re:The leading cause of death in the US on Apr 6 was Covid-19 on Wednesday April 08, 2020 @07:58AM (#22812112)
Wow, the rapid increase is definitely alarming.

Side note: gun violence would average number 3 or 4, if not for the tireless lobbying from the NRA to block health impact research. https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/

Re:Grocery Outlet S-1 on Thursday May 16, 2019 @02:44AM (#19926730)
I love this place. I live 1/2 a block away from one. Where else can you combine deal hunting, hoarding and grocery shopping???

“I don’t know when they’ll have this again, I better buy 6 of them” is something I’ve said to myself many times.

Also I have gotten seriously good Napa/Sonoma wine here for good prices (orig $120 GO 25.99).

This is why I will eventually switch to Linux as my primary work/personal OS.

Unfortunately, my Mac Pro 5,1 refuses to die!

Why would transportation cost 55k+ to begin with?!?!

Re:Slick Olive Oil Label Designed to Deceive on Monday February 04, 2019 @10:08AM (#19076879)
I buy a small bottle of unknown brands first and don't buy italian olive oil [0].

I mainly buy local Californian EVOO as it is high quality and reasonable priced.

Re:How We Designed the Librem 5 Dev Kit with Free Software on Thursday January 10, 2019 @12:14PM (#18875621)
Anybody remember Openmoko? Ubuntu Edge?

It's a great and noble idea, but really hard to pull off.

Also, there's no final specs for the Librem 5 yet they have a 4/2019 ship date. Sure... Hats off to them if that actually happens.

Does anyone have a Librem dev kit? Thoughts?

I like the Linux distro + e2e encryption support and would consider this in the future when they ship.

Re:Arm Announces Client CPU Roadmap For Laptops on Friday August 17, 2018 @02:48PM (#17784928)
IMHO, ARM performance is "good enough" for consumption and light editing/creation.

The real test for this is software.

Anyone remember this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FX!32

Exactly...

All I know is that my extra fine Pilot custom 823 beats all my other pens for flow and capacity.
Just to chime in here about how terrible and unaccountable the delivery service is -

I bought a part for my bike that on first attempt went to the wrong intermediate routing center. They marked it as undeliverable instead of just rerouting it. I had to get a refund and was promised a $25 credit to my next purchase. That didn’t happen.

I ordered the same item again. It was lost in transit. Got refund with no credit.

It took the third try to get my item. I selected same day delivery on the previous two but not the third.

I live in San Francisco and the item was in their Fremont fullfillment center. So....?

Web Workers are a browser only framework. You can use child_process.fork: https://nodejs.org/api/child_process.html#child_process_chil...

or maybe WebWorker Threads for API compatible framework: https://www.npmjs.com/package/webworker-threads

Think of it like being on a first date: your idealized self. You're real, but like 120% real.

I am thinking that it's because the React package.json does not have `repository` listed.

See Redux: https://github.com/reactjs/redux/blob/master/package.json#L3...

Re:Using React 16 to open new window with shared state on Thursday November 09, 2017 @12:39PM (#15664243)
Yeah, I use MessageChannel ports whenever communicating across domains: extensions, Workers, etc.

That was I can abstract it into convenience classes for connecting, event listening, etc.

As someone who tried to fund the Ubuntu Edge, I don't see this getting fully funded.

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ubuntu-edge#/

It probably wasn't 100% FOSS (blobs?, baseband?, ...), but that was a much more polished product soft+hardware, especially for touch based usage.

That is not to say that I don't want it to get funded, rather the barriers to entry are high.
