They gave those out to Gawker bloggers. The only think the OG blue checkmark stood for was "someone who was friends with a Twitter insider".

Yet the only one who was actually executed on that day was an unarmed protestor.

When are you turning yourself in to the International Criminal Court for what Bush and Cheney did to Iraq?
I'm old enough to remember when the media tried to astroturf Threads like this.
Re:Kids Can't Read Books on Wednesday November 20, 2024 @11:43AM (#42195713)
This. It used to be not that uncommon for kids to arrive in Kindergarten already capable of reading and writing. Now it's not that uncommon to see kids graduating high school unable to read and write. Our education system is a disgrace.
Moving the HQ of the gaming and movie business to California was a mistake. Sony needs to return to its roots and base all major decision-making in Japan.

They are like this literally any time a Republican is in the White House. They were like this when Dubya was President too, even though today they act like he's some sort of elder statesman just because he hates Trump.
Re:Maybe Bluesky Has "Won" on Friday November 15, 2024 @04:41PM (#42151462)
Imma let you finish, but since Trump won the popular vote by millions of votes, the word "reasonable" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
Re:A mistake that killed Japan's software industry? (2023) on Friday November 15, 2024 @04:36PM (#42151409)
I think the poster intended to make a contrast between US postwar vassals versus Soviet postwar vassals.

If "Twitter, but decentralized" was compelling to the average social media user, Mastodon would have eaten the world years ago.

Get real. It's a liberal echo chamber. 90%+ of the posts there are anti-Trump and/or anti-Musk.

Google has deleted the chat from their site but here is an archive. It's at the end and seemingly out of nowhere.

People are going to have to get real creative to square this with the "One China" policy.
LOL, they write this same article every 4 years.

More entertaining Presidential tweets. That's about it.

If you live in California, why are you paying for things at stores when it's optional?
Re:Former President Trump is projected to win the presidency on Wednesday November 06, 2024 @11:38AM (#42064900)
Because everyone besides Bernie dropped out right before Super Tuesday and endorsed Biden, hoping to get appointments in a future Biden Admin. Many, like Buttigeg were well rewarded for this.

If they did, the police might as well just keep officers stationed there 24/7 since they'll be getting called hourly.
Re:Apple to Face First EU Fine Under Bloc's Digital Markets Act on Tuesday November 05, 2024 @05:38PM (#42055808)
These "You broke our arbitrary rules, therefore we fine you x% of your income" schemes are just a roundabout way for the EU to put an income tax on foreign corporations. It's going to blow up in their faces when companies start deciding that access to a shrinking European market just isn't worth the cost and hassle.
