Re:What We're Working on in Firefox on Thursday May 23, 2024 @01:22PM (#40457385)
Containers is not a replacement for profiles, they are completely separate use cases. Those who use multi-profile do so because they want separate bookmarks, settings, etc (e.g. personal profile vs work profile)... which containers cannot do.
Re:What We're Working on in Firefox on Thursday May 23, 2024 @01:21PM (#40457378)
Really happy that they are finally improving multi-profile support
The CPU requirements are because they wanted to enable virtualization based security by default and have it be performant.
Re:Microsoft Edge is leaking the sites you visit to Bing on Tuesday April 25, 2023 @06:18PM (#35707494)
This is why I use firefox, you can just un-check 'show search suggestions ahead of browser history in addressbar results'
for me it works when signed into one google account but not another
they'll never do this because one of the main drive to buy cosmetics in multiplayer games is to show off to others
Microsoft: What great ideas!

Re:Probiotics can support the effect of antidepressants on Friday June 17, 2022 @09:38PM (#31786588)
probiotics 'colonizing' at all is very rare, they are generally transient
Re:Deluge BitTorrent Client on Thursday June 09, 2022 @12:17PM (#31683117)

Re:Modern CSV Version 2 Beta is now available on Wednesday June 01, 2022 @09:59AM (#31581903)
Yeah excel silently mangling csv files has always infuriated me

Just gave this program a try and it lets me save changes without removing any of the double quotes, yay!

Re:Celebrating Firefox: How we got to 100 on Wednesday May 04, 2022 @11:58AM (#31262258)
The release cycle is absolutely nothing to do with chasing version numbers.

It's about being able to ship new features when they are ready, instead of waiting for a 'major' new version.

This release cycle makes the most sense for 'evergreen' software like a web browser. There's a reason why every major browser has adopted it.

The only version that matters for a web browser is the 'latest' version.

Re:Why is inflammation a dangerous necessity? on Friday April 22, 2022 @06:43PM (#31129136)
Probably due to the bacillus subtilis probiotic that it contains

Re:Office 2000 is good to go on Tuesday November 16, 2021 @08:18PM (#29248365)
Yeah the teams search drives me crazy, I can find the comment I'm looking for, but it's impossible to find the thread with all of the important context if it's too old

reminds me of this:

Only denvercoder9 is myself!

I'm not a programmer myself, but it's my understanding that chromium is pretty well suited to being embedded.

Just look at how successful chromium has been in this space, stuff like Chromium Embedded framework, Electron, the myriad of chromium based web browsers etc...

Re:The Pixelbook is being used to test Google's Fuchsia OS on Sunday December 31, 2017 @04:24PM (#16043077)
Yeah I pretty much disregard any distro that's based on 16.04, too many ancient packages
Re:Why hasn’t the Year of the Linux Desktop happened yet? on Monday December 25, 2017 @10:23PM (#16006883)
Anecdotally, as a PC gamer I've seen my fair share of people having constant mic issues on windows. Sometimes mics are just a pain in the ass.
Re:Why hasn’t the Year of the Linux Desktop happened yet? on Monday December 25, 2017 @10:08PM (#16006835)
It's still pretty annoying though. And even if you disable those ads in the settings, it seems like the preference randomly gets switched back on every other time you update windows

It's been a few releases since I used fedora, but I don't recall ever seeing any kind of ads in the apps menu... and the vast majority of linux distros don't have any of that kind of garbage

Re:Firefox 54: E10S-Multi, WebExtension APIs, CSS Clip-Path on Wednesday June 14, 2017 @06:22PM (#14556579)
ublock is actively maintained, and afaik they have been working on a webextensions version, so I assume they'll be ready by then if not soon after.

In the meantime ublock works fine and is e10s compatible.

Re:Firefox 54: E10S-Multi, WebExtension APIs, CSS Clip-Path on Wednesday June 14, 2017 @04:41PM (#14555948)
even chrome doesn't do one process per tab afaik, if I recall they do something closer to process per domain
Re:Firefox 54: E10S-Multi, WebExtension APIs, CSS Clip-Path on Wednesday June 14, 2017 @04:38PM (#14555926)
ublock will work fine with e10s. It's not a webextension yet, but it is e10s compatible already
