Reasoning from first-principles:

Autism is a neurological disorder where you have more island neurons than long reaching connected neurons.

Vaccines can't cross the blood brain barrier, thereby they can't cause autism. Simply ruled out. Acetaminophen on the other hand is a drug that numbs the brain. It can at least feasibly have an influence.

Next, let's think about painkillers. They numb pain. Pain is linked to far reaching memories and connections. Again, plausible.

Sometimes a crazy man says something true.

Management thinking they are again better than ChatGPT lol. News flash: ChatGPT is also good at high level thinking.
Re:Apple Vision Pro available for pre-order on Friday January 19, 2024 @09:32AM (#39055882)
I would like to buy one for my company without prescription glasses. For employees with vision impairment, contact lenses are the preferred option. Do contact lenses work with the apple vision pro? Does anyone know this?

I actually think the Russian people are too nice and tolerant. Too many Russians choose to ignore what's happening, they are too nice to their leaders.

I think you’re missing out on 3: making us addicted and controllable sheep.
This so much. This is the exact reason why some countries are failing and some are not.
Re:"I'm on the edge of revolt" – Internal Tech Emails on Monday November 13, 2023 @06:12AM (#38249012)
The main problem is bad people, people who put shareholder value above all else. However, another big problem is good people leaving when bad things happen. At some point only bad people remain at a company and this will be the fait of Google at some point.
Why do you not move YC into a more immigration friendly country?
The UK is closer to South Africa than to Europe. It's corruption ridden to the top and 1 in 5 children live in food poverty despite it being the 5th richest country. The mismanagement of law and order is so obvious. Birmingham went bust, privatisation spurred energy bills, etc.
Re:The Magical Japanese Art of Luggage Forwarding on Friday October 27, 2023 @03:15AM (#38035619)
We have a similar thing in Switzerland but it’s not only done by the Hotel but mostly by the train organisation SBB. Someone will pick up your luggage from your home (costs about 50$) or you can deposit it at your local train station (30$). Then on the day of your flight you don’t need to worry about your luggage and on your flight back you can specify to which train station or home they should deliver your suitcase. https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/before-your-journey/l...

Good! They are the worst private health care I ever had. Public health care was better in the UK.
At least I can afford a house with heating outside of London, lol.
Re:Ask HN: How do you manage photos, philosophically? on Wednesday September 27, 2023 @08:29PM (#37683563)
I would honestly compress the photos. You don’t need ultra hd pictures for your memories.
I absolutely love D’s contracts with pre and postconditions. These I can simulate in other languages however. The invariant is where D really shines imo. Also the fact that you can overwrite the r value constructor, move constructor and cooy constructor are great ideas and the static function support is also good!
Flutter is not a bad choice if you want to build a cross platform app.

Re:The Sell ∀ ∃ as ∃ ∀ Scam on Sunday April 23, 2023 @05:03AM (#35674612)
In the second part of the essay the writer mentions the statisticians fallacy. "Adding more hyperparameters leads to overfitting." This is not true with large neural networks anymore and is part of the magic.
In a 100 years the UK elite will pay you in air, but only 95% of the recommended daily amount.
I can’t help to think that eggs have become Giffen goods.

Re:America and China are preparing for a war over Taiwan on Tuesday March 14, 2023 @04:00PM (#35157498)
It is strange that China is preparing for war, because Taiwan gave up on mainland China and does no longer want to go to war with mainland China. There is a clear aggressor here.
Re:America and China are preparing for a war over Taiwan on Tuesday March 14, 2023 @03:58PM (#35157460)
Who wakes up one day and chooses war?

China has no threat from Taiwan, yet they chose violence through preparation.

Russia has no threat from Ukraine, yet they chose violence through actions.

Disgusting.
