We cant stop! Modern civilization isnt designed that way. The griever stops but the whole team doesn't. The flipside is we have less death than the middle ages because of the technology we have created. Nonetheless no one is immortal. Death is part of the game, without it life would not be possible. (A universe where life is immortal would not have sufficient antifragility to have the evolutionary pressures to make human experience)

Real job in terms of stress rather than time. 5h hacking on your.own thing != 5h contriburing to a big repo and doing something called "incident response"

But technically it is volunteering.

I dont see how people miss latency. It is the only other number shown on the speed check screen! No curiousity as to why that is there?

I mean I bet they do care about litres/100km for their car AND 0-100km accelerarion (and many other stats)

130ms latency within a city? Are you using sound or something?

Yeah yeah I know thats only 40m ish for sound.

I dont fully understand this but it seems fucked. It sounds like a real job with all the real job issues and none of the pay. Actually antipay as it is an expensive hobby ... might as well snowboard.

Edit: some of that team seem sponsored so maybe I am wrong?

Sinister just "yes". Is this a drug cartel? Checks bio. Oh no much worse!

Exactly. It is not philosophical either. Lots of wrongful convictions. Even if proved wrong you may not even get out of prison!

You think you don't. Whats your HN password? Exactly.

Randall has you covered: https://xkcd.com/505/

And not much compared to a bug in prod or waiting 3 weeks for a release (the value proposition of CI/CD)

Still, saving cloud spend by making the build faster or using self hosted runners is probably worth it.
