People are really playing madlibs in the comment section these days, sadly

Who said anything about 401ks?
Re:WTF Ubuntu? on Monday November 02, 2026 @11:24AM (#50339211)
There seems to be something off about this post. One hour in and hundreds of comments.

Either this was used to pop something big, or this is a jia tan situation going down.

I thought there was a flamebait automation that was prevent this sort of velocity (unless overridden)

And what stops Elon from becoming the person in charge?
What do you mean? I can post whatever I want on Reddit and I can make it have as many upvotes as I need. They basically make bot farms undetectable, by hiding histories and automatic username selection. Literally nothing should be considered truth with Reddit as its only source
I'm not a lawyer, but it feels like you should consult one. If you have the legal information of this person and they have possession of your activation locked phone, sounds like you could at least sue him civilly or in small claims court for the value of it, if the DA won't do anything
That leads to a situation where some are more equal than others
Re:Hello Toronto – Waymo Is En Route on Saturday October 17, 2026 @11:10AM (#50131822)
Waymo, Cybercab and Zoox fleet has never killed another human. Uber had 1 death, and who can really say about FSD
The correct amount of spies found at a company is non-zero

But construction workers are still people and they would like employment

This is same thing someone in 1926 would say about your cell phone battery
Thank you! I don't know why they keep sticking to their scripts when it doesn't apply in this case.
But are the NDAs new, or were you manipulated into caring about them this time and not the 1000's of other times it's happened (across various industries)
It doesn't even have to be competitors their suppliers would love to know the total amount of widgets that they'll be buying. That way they know if they're the single supplier
Not saying that increases in power bills aren't caused by ai datacenters at all, but I would like to remind people that there is currently a conflict going on that is impairing 5-50% of the worlds energy supply, which even if we used none of it, still would impact us (LNG exports) and getting people angry at tech is a good distraction for this time of year.

I think there's more to the story than only AI causing higher electricity bills

Is it? Can you give me a link to a video that shows the issue in a straightforward manner?

Most of the shorts I've seen about this use an overlayed sound or synthetic sound of some sort.

I've also seen ben jordans price on "infrasound" but that was inconclusive (and not very scientifically rigorous).

I did see one video that measured 60db from the front yard, which I can admit could be problematic, but that fails to show that it's a pervasive or unsolvable problem

This is what misalignment looks like
Are you ok?

Facebook and Google were one of the first major online services offering an "takeout" feature in service of data portability. FB had multiple rss feeds. It's graph API was around quite early due to demand.

Re:It took a year to ship WebAssembly in Anubis on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @02:18AM (#49606175)
It's fixed enough for how much they want it to be fixed (I.e. how much they are being paid to fix it)
Exactly this.

If people were just honest with their objections, then we could be unified, but currently we're fighting misinformation that are trying to stop 5MW computer closets and projects that are trying to be a drop in replacement for a _steel mill_ (which should be an automatic approval)

Re:The Internet Is Kind of a Predatory Cesspit Now on Saturday August 29, 2026 @02:59PM (#49492352)
If you go to doomer places on the internet (this thread included), you will see the internet as doomed
Imagine a steel mill trying to exist in America today...
Sell attention for ad space? That describes both of em
Here's one account, @rooey.wav

There's another account that I thought was something like @stopdatacenters but I'm having trouble finding it atm

This is about a DC in Nashville -- it is on the Cumberland river.
