Sometimes one can feel like your only action is a little one.
Thanks. It’s macOS' own cookie banner and dick bar.
It’s weird they haven’t just made this a menu flag…
I’ve literally never ordered from any of these 3 companies.
I do wonder what percentage of their orders are McDonalds. I lived near one and the car traffic of vehicles with delivery placards was significant.
Which makes me wonder about pricing pressure that is often reported re: McDonalds, and yet people end up paying $30-40 for a $15 McDonalds order.
Don’t get it.
Do you ever talk to non-technical people about the computers they use?
You may hate this advice but it worked for me: have Gemini walk you through all the requirements for your given situation.
It took 6-8 weeks for all my stuff end to end, including whatever agreement I needed for European sales, but Gemini was very helpful and correct on all the stated steps and gotchas.
Yes, I’m American but I had a slightly convoluted situation with addresses and bank accounts, and going at the process blind would’ve been much less successful.
It’s not called Gemini Overview…
Starting a company is riskier than selling to companies who survived the “it’s hard to start a company” gauntlet.
In every billion dollar company I've worked at, the infosec team has numbered less than 10 people.
Deploy gate in the app is surely more sophisticated than needed for a waitlist. And it's probably managed by a separate team and that separation makes sense.
Now do American Capitalism!
If you work at Meta you should ask at Meta.
For my own projects I’ve limited my exposure points by picking which projects and what scope I ship. I have to iOS apps in the App Store and I simply removed high exposure surfaces - right now neither use accounts because I don’t want to manage account systems, and Apple prefers it anyway. I downrisked my projects from what I could ship and I’m perfectly happy with my production projects.
Most of my other AI written projects are internal apps and systems. I have another project going public soon where I ship the output of LLM written code, without running the code in any user accessible area.
And tests, of course.
In time things will mature, tooling will be better, and we’ll have a different risk quotient.
FWIW you have urls in your profile but nothing about whatever Macro is
No Fireworks for me. They invited me to test Firepass, screwed up the onboarding, charged me money (when the account was supposed to be gratis) and when I asked them to fix that after I used up my $$, they said they closed the program. After that, no emails were responded to, and we were on a person-to-person basis. Not sure what their deal is, but I'm off Fireworks.
Look again. Read more carefully.
Dang, this took me back to the Artisoft LANtastic vs Novell Netware days...
Second paragraph: "In this post, we show how to run the latest frontier-class model — Muse Spark Open, with nearly a trillion parameters..."
Still weird, and against brand, for them to lead with this particular model from that particular company. The groans are still earned.
Yes. Or roll it into a $80 service charge when you get anything else done at a Tesla service center. Like the air filters.
Hang out in that subreddit for a while… this isn’t a singular report.
And those threads get a monumentally higher number of detailed responses than any education related thread here on HN.
Are y'all gonna register a complaint for each and every instance of an LLM written or enhanced article anywhere?
It's mainstreamed. Spare the rest of us.
That's the previous action they're in court over.
Now OpenAI is saying that an ex-Apple employee sent Apple information about the device.
Tit and tat.
The allergy I have to some web browsers over others, even on iOS, makes that not a true assertion for me.
The constant hand wringing and gnashing over AI things here is remarkable. HN is like the olds complaining about how things used to be.
AI isn’t going back in the tube, and there are plenty of significant issues to discuss, but these kind of topics feel like “kids these days”.
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t ugly for others. Or will you just not allow others to have this opinion?
It’s ugly.
About as often as I check my physical mailbox.
Magic login links tho…
I could def espionage better. Does that qualify me to work at OpenAI?
That remote still sucks. I would've bought it if there was a new remote.
New Apple TV seems to make sense if you're installing a lot of new sound equipment, and love Siri.
If neither of those are true, not sure what's on offer.
It’d be nice if the AppleTV had some of these features.
