Lovely.

Is it just me or do other find anime girls plastered all over a project kind of off-putting?
Re:OpenAI raises less than half of $30B target on Saturday October 31, 2026 @12:20AM (#50313171)
No no no, don’t burst that AI bubble just yet. I haven’t finished all my side-projects.
There are studies showing whatever. Most articles about this stuff are just people cherry-picking research to fit their agenda. Positive or negative.
They need to prove there is a demand in order to attract more funding. Funding they are completely depended on.
This is not about the bottom line, it is about proving to the marked that there is a demand - in order to attract more funding.
It's not really a secret, the answer is profit. And in the part of the world where this provider is from, greed is reckoned as a good thing.
I approve. The problem isn’t surveillance, the problem is that everybody doesn’t have access to the data :D
Re:StackOverflow now gets fewer than 1000 questions a month on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @10:39PM (#50283948)
I do have a webarchive of StackOverflow on some backup disc somewhere - just in case :D
Re:Why Is This Fingerprinting Script Creating Bioweapons? on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @10:30PM (#50283887)
They don’t want us making medicine. Can you imagine.
No, I don’t want you to use the computer, I want you to be the whole computer. No mistakes.
Those three are going to think about it twice before the next time they are sharing tall fishing tales on the internet!
Re:ThinkRail from JetBrains on Saturday October 24, 2026 @07:17AM (#50220188)
One would expect better from a company which makes some of the finest IDEs on the planet.

An AI slop webpage trying to sell me VS Code bullshit. Really?

Re:What shall I teach my son? on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @02:27AM (#50176802)
This is a typical rookie mistake; thinking you are going to learn your child anything. I hate to disappoint you, but the opposite is true; the child is who it is and you can't change that - but they will teach you something :)

The only thing you can do is trying to avoid giving them trauma. This is important!

I love my ligatures, I will not be using a font without them.
Re:Celebrating 70 Years of Fortran on Friday October 16, 2026 @02:23AM (#50114807)
I'm from Norway and as many may already know, we are above average curious about what happens out in the sea - because of oil mainly. There is a lot of research and simulations and stuff going on in that field, and most of that is still based on Fortran.
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @02:13AM (#50114736)
Finally. We've been waiting for flying cars for a while now!

I kind of concluded that they really don't want us messing around up in the air - for reasons. Now, combined with self-driving capabilities, maybe it's back on the table :)

That being said, I suspect that they way do this, as shown in the demo, is sustainable for seconds only. And if I understood it correctly, the system is not really for flight, but for correcting momentum while driving in turns and such.

To be fair; Node is involved in this too.
I find these kind of article fascinating; going from clueless to solution, and learning something on the way. This is education.

Is a good solution? No, but he identified a problem and he solved it, not letting lack of domain knowledge stopping him. Respect.

Re:The Legend of von Neumann [pdf] on Saturday October 03, 2026 @10:15AM (#49944467)
Are you retarded?
Re:Ballmer Peak on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @02:21AM (#49905129)
I have reference this more times than I'm willing to admit. Usually together with that old rumor; that back in the days, if you went to a computer show, it was pretty obvious that the Apple guys were smoking and the Microsoft guys were drinking :)
Re:Prompting Claude Opus 5.5 on Monday September 28, 2026 @04:40AM (#49875194)
Yeah. It is not so much like a "coding assistant", but more like a temp agency sending you different autists every other month.

Edit: Someone commented that this is insulting to autists, and I guess it kind of is - sorry. What I ment was an intellectual; one that can be an absolute retard, but have read an aweful lot.

Re:Prompting Claude Opus 5.5 on Monday September 28, 2026 @04:36AM (#49875157)
First thing it did when I tried it, was roaming through files in directories way outside of the project. I tried to get it to explain why it did it multiple times, but I never got anything resembling an explanation.
This AI slop is tiring.

Edit: I got downvoted, and it was most likely by the AI slop instigator himself. Imagine being so proud of your slop, that you take it personally when someone critiques it :D

Now I am curious as to how much of his blog is exactly like this.

Edit 2: All of it, it seems. Like; that article about Intern-Decision the 26. September 2026. The author installed it, fixed three failures, tested it on 27,256 days of weather, and published the write-up that same day as it was released.

And then manage to get cranky when someone points it out :D

Edit 3: Misunderstand me correctly. I'm all in AI, and I produce my fair share of AI slop as well, but it is almost exclusively for internal use and I can't imagine treating it as premium content. And if I felt the need to publish any of it, I would ensure that it was clearly marked; AI generated.

Re:Cambrian Explosion of AI on Monday September 28, 2026 @01:43AM (#49874064)
Gemini has to be the Opabinia of the AI explosion then? :)
Re:Six-year-old breaks women's world Rubik's Cube record [video] on Thursday September 24, 2026 @02:18AM (#49826880)
Poor little soul.
Re:Ideas on modernizing the open-source desktop on Thursday September 24, 2026 @02:02AM (#49826773)
When I first met Linux desktop in the nineties, I was blown away - and I was completely convinced that Linux would overtake Windows as the preferred desktop within a few years. Little did I know that what we would end up with was a thousand mediocre variants of it, instead of a few awesome ones.

My own Linux desktop experience peaked with Compiz, and I have been on macOS ever since.

Re:Spymarks, Not Watermarks on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @01:48AM (#49797224)
It's like that fart gas trail, but for machines :D
Wonderful! Reminds me of a site I once had, like before Twitter, which was dead simple. One input box and two buttons; one to post and one to search - no filter :D It got so full of spam, I closed it and lost the domain after a while.

I still miss it.
