They built it after they got huge and were sued by Viacom and others.

Always more product to build, scale and optimize!

Yes India banned our domains over a year ago
Re:Brave Browser and the Wayback Machine: Working Together on Tuesday February 25, 2020 @07:58PM (#22419283)
Curious why you think a browser company should be acting as a middle man and taking a cut of revenue from the publisher or content creator?
Re:Google’s GDPR Workaround on Wednesday September 04, 2019 @10:59PM (#20883504)
Brave is trying to be the middleman and launching their own ad network. I think browsers forcing a business model onto publishers still isn't the right answer.
Re:Verizon to Sell Tumblr to Automattic on Tuesday August 13, 2019 @03:09AM (#20683470)
They think it's immoral but they definitely still look at that content. For advertisers it's about brand perception and not appearing next to immoral content.
Re:Verizon to Sell Tumblr to Automattic on Tuesday August 13, 2019 @12:14AM (#20682779)
There is still massive stigma around consuming porn. Less than half of Americans think that watching porn is morally acceptable. https://news.gallup.com/poll/235280/americans-say-pornograph...

Brands don't want to be next to content that has that stigma.

Re:Verizon to Sell Tumblr to Automattic on Tuesday August 13, 2019 @12:11AM (#20682764)
It wasn't worth anywhere close to a billion long before they banned porn.
It’s split Safari/Chrome pretty evenly. We publish a lot of our data on pornhub.com/insights if you’re interested!
Small since ~80% of our traffic is mobile and we also serve static ads to most adblock users on desktop.

Google Analytics is the only analytics product that can support the data we need processed at a reasonable price. We do use their IP anonymization by default and it's pretty easy to opt-out of GA tracking.

No we aren't doing that. Ads are contextual on TrafficJunky/Pornhub. Too few people actually making accounts and purchases compared to the billions browsing anonymously.
All Visas start with 4 and MC start with 5. I think you're right though, I doubt they allow price changes based on card type.
Or $1 trials when it's a MasterCard CC, then no need for a text/email.

Still trying to find someone local but please send me your CV!
Yes because those pennies add up and pay for badwidth and content. It's not just someone, it's 30%+ of traffic.
Yes they do, CPM vs CPC.
Re:Brave files adtech complaint against Google on Wednesday September 12, 2018 @09:51PM (#17975286)
I prefer not paying for content, which includes micro-transactions. I don't think I'm alone on that sentiment. If publishers won't get enough "BAT" through micro-transactions, the content will end up behind a paywall.
Re:Brave files adtech complaint against Google on Wednesday September 12, 2018 @08:46PM (#17974951)
How is an adblock on by default going to save the internet? No one likes paywalls.
Re:Brave files adtech complaint against Google on Wednesday September 12, 2018 @03:43PM (#17972421)
If it's about privacy then why not just block trackers and allow ads? It seems like a page from Eyeo's playbook, another company trying to insert itself as a middleman for advertising.
Yes this is true. Also most porn subscriptions have "cross-sales" meaning you get signed up to another subscription when you join the first. This leads to higher chargebacks.

I run product for Pornhub Premium, we have a clean, no cross-sale offer and it's very easy to cancel, our chargeback ratio is near 0.

Not true. I listed the sites that Mindgeek owns above. There are no secret subsidiaries. The porn industry is incredibly competitive, if it wasn't, my job wouldn't be so difficult.
A common myth. Mindgeek owns Pornhub, YouPorn, Redtube, Tube8, xtube and Gaytube for tube sites.

They own Brazzers, Digital Playground, Reality Kings, Twistys, Babes, Sean Cody and Men.com for production studios.

There are thousands of tube sites, two of which have more traffic than those mentioned above. There are hundreds of porn studios, many which are more popular than those listed above.

Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (June 2018) on Saturday June 02, 2018 @10:42AM (#17214775)
No of course not!
Incredibly naive? I work for Pornhub, the last thing we want to handle is PII, it brings no value and has security risks.
The ID verification is done by trusted third parties. There will be no link to a name and any browsing activity on Pornhub.
The yearly price for now is $69.99 in the US. Site is back up.
The third point is incorrect. It will be implemented on Mindgeek sites and any other sites that wish to use it instead of the competing age verification products.
Mindgeek has an age verification product to comply with the UK law but by no means is in charge of age verification in the UK, there are several competitors with their own age verification products.
Re:Facebook monthly visits down 5% in April on Wednesday May 09, 2018 @07:24PM (#17035168)
You can also zoom out and see that Facebook's web traffic has been steadily declining and the April drop has nothing to do with the CA scandal. https://i.imgur.com/e9Mgjby.png
Re:Facebook monthly visits down 5% in April on Wednesday May 09, 2018 @06:43PM (#17034921)
I use SimilarWeb Pro and compare it to internal analytics and the variances are often incorrect. Also this is website visits only when most FB activity would be on native apps.

If you zoom out you can see that Facebook's web traffic has been on the downtrend for awhile https://i.imgur.com/e9Mgjby.png. Also April has one less day than March which wasn't mentioned.
