How were you able to update the database frequently with python? I’m trying to basically have a database that mirrors historical data on an exchange, that also updates every 5 minutes — I’m trying to decide between a node server / python aws lambda.
Take a look at Bitcoins historical prices. I call what we’re experiencing right now the “Third Rise.” At the beginning of each, I thought there was no way the price would double or triple. Yet each time it did. I’d suggest if looking at history before you make such strong statements about Bitcoin’s price possibilities.
Wow. What sort of data do they send?
He might be referring to some dark pool trading (eg private exchanges)

I’d say that Mail.app and Outlook have different use cases. Mail is much more lightweight and can be used for simple personal email. Outlook was designed with enterprise in mind - eg meeting room scheduling, wider confidentiality settings, event scheduling, etc.
Re:Introducing the new Snapchat on Wednesday November 29, 2017 @02:13PM (#15809832)
I just bought some - I’m considering snap another case of what Facebook went through. Very well informed about their user, lots of talent working for them, tons of users. However, I think their success will need to come from tailored paid content (also read, they need to collect more data on their users).

Note: this is not investment advice.

Arrays and vectors are different. I’d suggest adhering to C-like conventions of data structures.
Re:Munich confirms switch to Windows 10 on Sunday November 26, 2017 @01:43AM (#15779736)
Those details are dealt with the contract between Msft and the Munich government. Microsoft, along with Amazon and Google, provide on-premise storage; so specified data never ends up leaving the system.

He more so explained his story, which was essentially: “I studied hard, got into a good school, and got a great job,” rather than explaining how he focuses on the process. The only example of “process” was his discovery during his internship that he _should_ focus on process.
Re:I'm on the FCC. Please stop us from killing net neutrality on Thursday November 23, 2017 @02:47AM (#15763544)
Yes, you need to. So many people have already and we all need more voices.
I figured it’s a lot of data to pull from all those exchanges and pump to a client.
This must be costing you a lot. Do you have plans to monetize?

Great work!

Thank you.

Could you go into more detail on what happened to Mt. Gox during final months?
Re:Uber donates $1M to Meals on Wheels on Monday November 20, 2017 @05:02PM (#15743722)
I worked at Microsoft over the summer — we had a week where we could work for a variety charities and volunteer groups, while at the same time Microsoft matched $25 per hour we volunteered. I think all the interns in total raised over $100,000 in donations.
Thank you, I’d be very interested in learning more!
If you want to learn more I’d also suggest reading a book called Flash Boys. It’ll give you huge insight into what OP is talking about.
A lot of that is simply busy work and can in turn be automated. A huge bank like Goldman is essentially a middleman - and middlemen can also be trimmed down. For example, I was just talking to a friend who works at Goldman as a trader. 75% of his job is to answer the phone and deal with clients issues (eg “why is my account frozen?”). His job honestly sounded like a customer service job. He’s also the person who signs off on wire transfers, something that could easily be automated.

So much of the “value” Goldman supposedly creates is due to them creating an artificial need for it.

Yeah. Born and raised in Dhahran. Finishing up college now! Dad was in exploration.
Re:Code together in real time with Teletype for Atom on Wednesday November 15, 2017 @12:09PM (#15705355)
Atom’s detriment with this post is that there’s 4 paragraphs of text before I can even see what this feature looks like, and even then it’s gifs on how to install the feature.

Ah, a wonderful response. That’s for keeping your ears open on what customers actually want.
Re:CNN – 1996 Year in Review on Wednesday November 15, 2017 @10:02AM (#15704200)
Wow same. My dad thought my brother and I were slamming doors. Crazy to see a story about Dhahran.
Thank you.
Re:Paradise Papers: New leak from offshore finance firm on Sunday November 05, 2017 @05:23PM (#15632069)
It’s interesting. In other third world countries like Tunisia (my mother’s homeland) income inequality is even worse, yet the lower classes are content with where they are. In America it seems like everyone is crawling to “make it.”

Yeah I honestly expected more, especially from MIT students...
Have you ever read the terms and service of any piece of software or service? They’re full of similar protective clauses.
Re:Cryptocurrency Evolution on Monday October 30, 2017 @02:29PM (#15587607)
I really don’t understand the point of this article. It’s quite rudimentary without much insight or new analysis.
On the CEO’s LinkedIn page: A. Ullmann varies between an idealist and a fool.

I guess he truly does fit that description.

Re:Microsoft gives up on Windows 10 Mobile on Monday October 09, 2017 @12:10PM (#15435082)
Nah. Azure revenue is growing dramatically every year.
Re:Forget Wall Street. M.B.A.s Want to Work for Amazon on Wednesday October 04, 2017 @10:32AM (#15400694)
While I was at Microsoft this summer I learned that the PM position has become highly sought after by MBAs from schools like Duke etc.
