News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

bofadeez

Who cares? They'll all be fired in a few months and swapped for LLM coders. Have you tried routing between Kimi K3 and Fable? Fireworks put out an article on it.

People still writing code but it's now below a minimum wage job in terms of economic value addition. It's a waste of human time and energy.

Smart people need to learn biology or something that actually has value, like Jensen has been saying for years.

Re:How to Make a Nintendo 64 Game in 2026 on Thursday August 06, 2026 @10:05PM (#49205141)
The only "artist" that matters anymore are AI art generators. Human artists are done.

Why would you waste time on anything other than the top quality AI art?

Re:Welcoming the Nepalese Government to Have I Been Pwned on Thursday August 06, 2026 @10:03PM (#49205133)
You should at least attempt to ask an LLM for advice before asking a question that contributes nothing and only takes away value from a conversation like this.

Personally I'd recommend Fable or Kimi K3. Have you tried them yet? They're better at your job than you could ever be, even in theory.

An LLM could develop it for them anywhere on earth. Why waste a human's valuable time on minimum wage robot work like programming? It's not 2025 anymore. Wake up!
Re:Can you reverse engineer an ASIC? on Thursday August 06, 2026 @09:57PM (#49205092)
Are these "shadow bans" in the room with you right now? What a nut.

Fable needs no advertising. It was more important than the printing press. Code singularity.

But it's old news, Fable is no longer my favorite LLM. I mostly use Kimi k3 now. It's also more competent than you are in general.

The primary point you're avoiding is that programming is not a job for professional humans anymore. At least not humans with any dignity or self respect or economic value.

I'm sure you at least agree with this point, like every other reasonable person does now too.

Have you tried Fable yet? It's amazing!
Well according to Fable both parties have a good point. But Fable definitely needs data centers so the economy can continue chugging along.
The only thing that matters is our access to Fable-class AI models. The rest will naturally follow.

How are your prompt engineering skills? That's the last human skill

Well we could ask Fable to do a cost - benefit analysis that would surpass your reasoning ability. Did you do that yet?
Downvoted.

Fable is necessary for society. How else we will get anything done?

Re:GNU Hurd News 2026-Q2 on Thursday August 06, 2026 @01:38AM (#49192886)
It's around $1 / M on claude code plan. Most users report around 200M tokens on the $200 plan.

I don't think anyone is paying full API pricing.

Re:GNU Hurd News 2026-Q2 on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @09:40PM (#49191375)
Why are you still manually executing commands like it's pre-fable 2025?
I don't know. Is there Fable-based sentiment analysis available? That would help you
Fable disagrees with your opinion. You should check in with it before commenting.
You're still reading code like it's 2020? Wow
Oh you forgot a counter argument. Are you upset that you don't have valuable skills anymore?

Some people just disagree but have no logical reason why and then just change the subject, like you demonstrated.

I can tell you have strong emotions about it, and you wish you had something logical to say. Hope you can think of something other than insults.

I assume you use your HN account in an anonymous way and you don't mind appearing so dysregulated to the world?

Lol

You're saying you have abused cocaine as much a vibe coder enters prompts? I.e. you're just an ordinary drug addict who leaves 100s of comments a day and is not worth dignifying? Why would you want to advertise that and intentionally discredit yourself as a human being?
How many times have you abused cocaine?
Have you tired using several billion Fable tokens in production? It will do whatever you want.

So you can still have your opinions on what works best. But it doesn't matter much, it's not 2025 anymore.

E.g. always use Rust instead of Python

You sound like me before I tried Fable.
I would have agreed before I used Fable. It's not even vibe coding anymore. It's just coding.

E.g. Just always use Rust instead of Python.

Tomato tomato. English is my favorite new programming language.
Discussing language preferences at all sounds very pre-Fable era
Re:The Computational Theory of Mind (2015) on Monday August 03, 2026 @09:40AM (#49155678)
Well, Nima has shown that space-time is emergent from higher geometry like he amplituhedron and is not the fundamental basis of reality. Then Hoffman suggests that conscious agents could plausibly be the substrate through his category theoretic work. It's not a misunderstanding of the double slit experiment. (I think that was a talking point for a long time amongst hippies.) The interpretation that wave function collapse requires a conscious agent would be consistent with this idea though, and also consistent with simulation theory.

That's not going to work: https://vod.video.cornell.edu/media/1_sfv907qp

Conscious agents are creating spacetime. Not the other way around: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4060643/

Re:The Computational Theory of Mind (2015) on Sunday August 02, 2026 @09:30PM (#49150215)
Just as the amplitudes program suggests that spacetime itself may be an emergent structure rather than the fundamental substrate of reality [1], the computational theory of mind may be mistaking an emergent representation for the source of consciousness. A more fundamental theory must therefore treat neural computation as an emergent interface within conscious-agent relations, rather than as the mechanism that generates consciousness.

Even the loosest, "multiply realizable" version of computationalism this entry lays out still needs something physical to run on like neurons, silicon, spacetime, whatever. Problem is, natural selection was never selecting for accurate perception of that substrate, just for fitness payoffs [2].

So computationalism has the order backwards: you can't generate a mind by computing over a brain when the brain, like any object in spacetime, is just a species-specific icon evolution gave you to see, not the hardware underneath it.

Re:Anthropic AI Models Hacked Three Companies During Tests on Thursday July 30, 2026 @07:33PM (#49117201)
Fixed the headline: "Three Companies Had Security So Weak That Even an AI Model Hacked Them"
We need a tip boycott to just end all this madness.
Re:Residential Proxies Are a National Security Threat on Tuesday July 28, 2026 @12:01AM (#49079178)
Sounds like fear mongering to justify some kind of otherwise unpopular surveillance laws
Re:Agent swarms and the new model economics on Monday July 20, 2026 @05:29PM (#48985122)
The issue is that the only models that could be trusted to work autonomously cost more than a human employee
