Nice research, you are right! Seems that low power mode was on. I have been using the web, Netflix, Apple TV app, and anything else just fine without ever noticing a thing though.

So that all being said, a normal website should work totally fine on low power mode, and this should definitely be a negative on the Opus implementation.

Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:58PM (#50074913)
I don't know how you rate, but the Opus 5.5 is literally stuttering and lagging when scrolling on a Macbook Air M3 (for me).

(Chrome, also incognito)

Re:Gemini 3 Flash: frontier intelligence built for speed on Wednesday December 17, 2025 @05:26PM (#46306445)
This might also have to do with it being a preview, and only available on the global region?
Re:ChatGPT Atlas on Sunday October 26, 2025 @07:10AM (#45710804)
I don't think this is true though. Lots of people around me use "ChatGPT" but then are actually using Gemini because that's what is on their phone.
Re:ChatGPT Atlas on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @05:16PM (#45661827)
I just don't get this. Google has SO MANY THINGS that are US only. While most other companies release things to everyone (like OpenAI).

How does Google expect to compete with OpenAI globally if they keep limitting the rest of the world?

Re:US weighs Google break-up in landmark antitrust case on Thursday October 10, 2024 @05:31AM (#41797135)
70% goed to app devs (right?)
Re:GPT-4o on Tuesday May 14, 2024 @01:22AM (#40351882)
The questions I ask ChatGPT have (almost) no monetary value for Google (programming, math, etc).

The questions I still ask Google, have a lot of monetary value (restaurants, cloths, movie, etc).

Re:Reflecting on 18 Years at Google on Thursday November 23, 2023 @01:50AM (#38390102)
At that time, others companies were not building most of those things though.
I don't know how or why, but yes, it has become less accurate over at least the last year or so.
Re:Pixel 8 Pro on Wednesday October 04, 2023 @04:02PM (#37770867)
When do the security releases stop? I was assuming for another year as I am currently downloading Android 14.

I was going to wait for Pixel 9 (currently also on Pixel 5).

Re:0-days exploited by commercial surveillance vendor in Egypt on Saturday September 23, 2023 @03:00AM (#37621190)
I got a September security update for my Pixel 5, I think 2 days ago.
Ahh yeah, websites targeting other businesses might give the ex-VAT price the preference. Although your 2 examples still show the price including VAT directly under the non-VAT price.
I am from the Netherlands, and I never see prices without VAT on websites. What is an example?

Edit: not saying your lying, just thinking it might be geo related sometimes?

It's pretty well explained here what Google is trying to do: https://www.xda-developers.com/android-project-mainline-modu...

That being said, Apple is atm way better in providing longterm software updates, but that doesn't mean Google isnt doing a lot of work there also.

Next to that, there is already a lot of apps that are updated through the Play Store instead of an OS update. Mail, Dialer, Android Auto, Photos, Camera, Keyboard, Contacts, Clock, Play services, ...

Same for me, bur the parent poster said they tried that 10 times already.

Maybe ask more people to do it!

Every Supercharger in EU is CCS, afaik.
Re:Lufthansa has NOT banned AirTags on Saturday October 08, 2022 @04:48PM (#33135876)
It's about checked-in luggage, not what you take with you in the cabin.
The original twitter threads talks about "a couple of days ago".. so that it didn't do it in 10 minutes, is not that surprising. Also not sure if your 48 hours will be enough if I go from the original thread from the person who found the issue.
Re:Deviations from Chromium (features we disable or remove) on Tuesday September 06, 2022 @03:36PM (#32742156)
That depends on how the browser makes money.
Re:The erosion of the Mac experience on Sunday August 21, 2022 @01:08PM (#32542169)
Yeah agree here. It makes sense to have a shortcut to only cycle over the windows of the same app. In the example where you have 5 windows in an editor.. how nice that you can only cycle over those instead of also the other 20 windows you have open
Re:Android 13 on Monday August 15, 2022 @03:45PM (#32474415)
Either that or search in the app drawer (at least on a pixel)
Re:Android 13 on Monday August 15, 2022 @03:44PM (#32474393)
My anecdotal experience is that the things you are talking about have way more to do with what you are used to then what is "better".

At this point I don't think either is that much better or worse the the other.

For one I have your exact same feeling when using an iPhone. And I know it's not because it's bad, it's just completely different than what I have been using for many many years.

(And yes, i can just go to the app drawer, type "battery" an find the battery settings)

Yeah this. SMB was before save games :-)
This article is specifically not just about "during pregnancy" though. Quote:

"It suggested that trauma might have affected the mothers' eggs decades before her children were conceived, while she was herself a child."

"They gave a male mouse a mild electric shock as it smelled a cherry blossom scent, stimulating a fear response to the odor. The response was accompanied by epigenetic changes in its brain and sperm. Intriguingly, the male offspring of the shocked mice demonstrated a similar fear of cherry blossoms—as well as epigenetic changes in their brain and sperm—without being exposed to the shock. These effects were passed down for two generations. In other words, the lesson the grandfather mouse learned, that the cherry blossom scent means danger, was transmitted to its son and grandson."

If giving your opinion, make sure you read the whole article. For example:

"It suggested that trauma might have affected the mothers' eggs decades before her children were conceived, while she was herself a child."

"They gave a male mouse a mild electric shock as it smelled a cherry blossom scent, stimulating a fear response to the odor. The response was accompanied by epigenetic changes in its brain and sperm. Because back then you paid a lot of money for Windows and they also sold you on Office and the likes. Google's business model with android is exactly this, give the OS for cheap but earn money on the apps.

Not saying 10 or 30 is the correct amount. It's just different now.

Re:Tell HN: AWS appears to be down again on Wednesday December 22, 2021 @08:49AM (#29649244)
Seems unlogical that this is just a single region in a single US region We are having issues pulling images from public.ecr.aws from an EU region.
