Weird. Why would they have been delaying a cybersecurity upgrade until after a board member has left? Was Todd preventing/holding up the implementation?

Re:Ask HN: Why buy domains and 301 redirect them to me? on Friday January 24, 2025 @07:40PM (#42818351)
Yes, this is how most Wordpress malware works - they inject/publish ad or keyword spam content on the site if the user agent is googlebot. Regular users don't get the ads. It's partially why most people never realise their site has been hacked.
Apple's iCloud servers for Chinese users are located in China, run by a Chinese tech service provider and provides them with the keys - as stipulated by the Chinese government. Of course the government has access to the data.

Tumblr lost 65 million accounts "recently" too - maybe they're just reusing their "we've been hacked" account?

Only available since iOS7 or 8
Surely the could've said "up for sale". But the capitalised "M" on market was just trolling.

For many of us, we just can't help it - it's an innate part of us - to build something.

All the issues she mentioned are HUGE parts of building a successful business that absolutely everyone will go through.

Almost daily. All over the place. Meetup.com is flooded with them.
Surely this whole mess can be fixed with a 5 minute UI change - reword the copy and add a checkbox to do/don't take a snapshot (default to checked (take a snapshot)).

PIN are in danger of becoming a vapourware joke
An article was published today on this very topic: http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/to-catch... which refers to a report done by Melb Uni. Not sure how they came up with the data though.

Personally however, I put a huge amount of stock in a site's design (Reddit excluded).

Re:Ask HN: How to accept payments? on Saturday July 02, 2011 @09:23PM (#2722803)
If you're just doing freelance work, I find direct deposit works best. Many clients don't use credit card for large amounts because of fees, which you'll also incur for most online payment systems
By "similar service", do you mean direct competition? If so, I'd stick with what you're doing (esp if it's paying some bills) - it's obviously got traction. And you can't beat being your own boss.
