Why wouldn't he just bribe employees like everyone else does?
The root of the question though is "Is secrecy an anathema to democracy?"

A boutique hotel needs a 27” version. They arent gonna switch from a windows all in one to a smaller mac aio.
Yeah not sure I'd want to be around for his midlife crisis though.
I would bet the security claim holds up, I have definitely seem more RCE mentioned from Chrome than from Safari.

I would bet Google's track record would easily allow them to defend this in court. More an issue with Google though.

Absurd! every company ever would love to hide behind these same excuses.

If they are using over a certain percent of any public utility (and yes ALL utilities are public) the utility should force it to be disclosed.

Tech pessimism is a real problem and maybe the root problem.

There really seems to be no figure in tech that sets a moral example right now. Not enough people in power calling out obvious crypto scams, not enough holding the line against gambling addictions.

I mean probably the most worshipped tech-ish billionaire (trillionaire?) is a perverted man child with a chip on his shoulder that is either a troll who should never be taken seriously (yet is allowed to be CEO of a company with control over ICBMs) or an outright nazi.

I feel like HN has had posts like this for 15 years. This one is just an opportunity to discuss where php falls with llms in the mix.
>It should either be illegal or not. This idea that the state has a monopoly on getting money from doing a thing that you are saying is bad doesn't make sense.

So no nation in history should have been allowed to have a military to defend its loot or to acquire more loot.

I miss when the internet was fun
likely they run an ad intelligence operation which requires them to click to see where the ads lead
turns out all you need is a botnet like Elon has

You missed the part about get hacked by one of the cornerstones of the ecosystem so that you could get infinite bad press for them if you wanted.

I think most of it is bot driven spam by the various labs. It's hard not to notice 3 month old accounts with very strong opinions about various frontier labs and little else.

Really no different than when there was suddenly online personas everywhere hyping up TSLA out of the blue. You can see the same thing going on with the BoringCompany subreddit. Crazy that the botnet master isn't able to convince us that Grok is also the best model. I don't think buying twitter was an accident it was probably just literally covering up the evidence.

yeah Visual Basic 6, kind of a different thing but clicking on things to select the method etc is very similar
Jobs had won complete cultural dominance of desktop pcs with the iMac 27". If you saw a desktop on a tv show for the past 20 years it was an iMac 27". Tim saw they could cancel it and go against their policy of minimal cords and sell separate Mac minis and Mac Studio displays.
The difference is with the app. With the Apple Remote it works fine, but in the app it only works with HDMI magic (I'm sure some tv's allow you to use the HDMI magic with no sound bar / receiver)
I got one recently for a room that was already wired with speakers, and man the ability to control the volume on Apple TV remote app on your phone is amazing. For whatever reason none of my other Apple TV's will allow that (could be the tv's fault, but obviously somewhere along the line they at least expect a speaker bar). I'm sure it's a fault of the HDMI spec somewhere that you can't easily change the volume on the tv itself but you can on downstream devices.

Just wait till these robot maximalists figure out that a pile of oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen is much cheaper than robots made out of steel and carbon fiber.
Seems like the obvious solution to this, is if you collect driving data on public highways, the data has to be made available to the public. If you collect the data on private highways you are free to keep it private. If you don't intend to use it in a product on public highways it can remain private.

Doesn't even seem that crazy when you consider the government is already licensing them to be able to use their private data anyway. Biggest issue is someone didn't set it up this way from the start.

The ease and seemingly no-cost nature of small changes in software development, causes scope creep that would have huge costs in construction.

Yes, almost all post 2000 houses will have 20 amps in kitchen but in many areas the other circuits will be 15 amp.
I thought everyone got waivers and the tariffs were just an excuse for raising prices. Was that not what happened in his first administration?

In Astoria, Oregon on Wireless road you can find nearly 100 in a tree. I'm not sure why they are in such high numbers, but you can often see them scavenging fields where seafood waste (shells) are dumped.

I moved back to the south after living out west for 20 years and it is insane the amount of trash dropped by trash workers while they are dumping bins. Part of it is cultural in that trash is literally piled at the street in bins of varying condition vs out west where you know if it doesn't fit in your 90 gal bin it ain't getting picked up by the robot arm.

Even Apple Store employees will freely give you the discount. Apple doesn't discount because they aren't a discount brand, but they will give you this discount if you ask.
Wonder if its better than a single color channel hologram though
Re:200 people charged in $2.7B health care fraud crackdown on Thursday June 27, 2024 @06:52PM (#40816051)
I don't understand how it isn't fraud. I looked at an ambulance bill for my mom the other day:

$1798 total

-$388 Medicare paid

-$1324 Service adjustment

$86 Amount you owe.

I don't think dumb is sufficient to explain this. It's pretty easy for me to see how someone leaps from this de facto legal system to outright fraud, because the line between them is pretty thin.
