Re:C Is Not a Low-Level Language (2018) on Monday September 07, 2026 @02:19PM (#49601275)
In this sense, not even assembly is a low-level language because an instruction may hide what the microcode is actually doing.

IMHO, C is the lowest level a procedural programming language can get.

*just* a 486. :-(

There are billions of lines of garbage code out there written in C, C++, Java, you name it. So much garbage, it has driven people to create languages with tighter guardrails to help programmers.

Yet, I've never seen those language creators blame anyone else. I don't recall Bjarne Stroustrup lashing out at people migrating from C++ to Java, Rust, or anything else.

Maybe humility is just a generational thing.

Who are those "top" researchers? and how many?

Strange. I was expecting the opposite move as LLMs know the C pitfalls and traps well enough to write corrected code.

No idea whether the claim is right or wrong, but this processor package is beautiful.

Re:Grit: Rewriting Git in Rust with Agents on Tuesday June 09, 2026 @09:22PM (#48470052)
But... it's memory safe. Not that git has any important memory issue, but now people with skill issues in C can contribute to it without breaking stuff.
Three "racist" in a sentence is a bingo. Congratulations.
Do you prefer human identification, like picking the suspect among a group lineup? More accurate I guess?

Does anybody know what model they are using? Is that Mythos?

This is impressive. I honestly don't know what to think about programming careers, need to reflect on my role in this area. The only thing that comes to mind the that quote from Cypher (Matrix):

"Buckle your seat belt, Dorothy, because Kansas is going bye-bye."

Re:A Eulogy for Vim on Thursday March 26, 2026 @09:03AM (#47529936)
Garbage in, garbage out. Most of the code out there is already crap, I'm just embracing it.

I prefer VS Code with Claude Opus 4.6, it makes me more productive during my working hours so I can take more quality time with my family.

Re:How We Rooted Copilot on Saturday July 26, 2025 @07:22PM (#44697707)
Not really. You're referring to agents, but the model doesn't always require agents, and the public chatbot is not connected to a shell freely evaluating arbitrary commands.
Re:How We Rooted Copilot on Saturday July 26, 2025 @03:48PM (#44696492)
Oh boy, this really seems to be hallucination.

Guys, chatbots are mostly token generators, they don't run programs e give you responses...it's not a simple shell program, it computes things in GPU and return tokens, in which are translated back to English.

Re:How We Rooted Copilot on Saturday July 26, 2025 @03:35PM (#44696434)
How does he know that the response isn't just hallucinations?

I'm telling it because I work there and I don't recognize any of those processes.

In fact I found one script named keepAliveJupyterSvc.sh in a public repo: https://github.com/shivamkm07/code-interpreter/blob/load-tes...
