same, but I will come back later to actually try it. Right now it's displaying a bunch of colors and strobing really hard. Not sure what's happening.

Oh, you do sign a contract, stating in details that you have no contractual relationship. ( 'at will' ) At least that was my experience in the last 6 years.
I can work remotely since years, I often did.

I work for a company with a few offices, none is less than 500 miles aways from where I live.

I will likely never go back to those office.

But I could not picture myself working "on the road". I did it, it's stressful and leads to less productivity on my side.

Have you try an intense and involve pair programing session from a 'normal' coffee shop? It's frustrating. Noises, and lack of secondary monitors make it so.

Pretty often, I would have a week or two where I work from somewhere else, but I secure the place in advance , the network connection, and try to work it out with my co-workers if it's imply separate timezone. ( yay for daily stand up at 4AM ! )

I did work from a van from a few weeks. I was actually not working, mostly reacting. ( taking meeting, working on tickets as they are assigned to me... but never taking a deep breath and looking at how makes things better on the long run. )

Edit : my english is broken

Idk about 2-3 minimum wage job. Are people in the US really doing that? But I grew up in a place where having a garden is pretty natural. It's something you take care of between putting the trash out and walking the dogs. It does not have to be amazing magazine-ready. But having a staple of stuff that grew easily and are forgetful. ( Courges, Carots, potatoes, aromatic plants .. )
correct, It was France. Last week

>What if the key to making necessities like housing and education more affordable was to get the federal government out of the business of guaranteeing loans and backstopping reckless investors?

I would like my representatives to have a say in what is a reckless investors or not.

And I'm not really interested in schooling or health becoming more profitable as a vessel for investment in free market.

I would rather have decent, cheap public education for my kids and something else than whatever we're having for health. That the goal.

Unfortunalty, I don't think it's a great fit for a friction-less market. We're not selling financial instrument, we're trying to give young citizen everywhere a decent education, and have access to health.

I don't know about California but the same kinda shit happened in France. In 2007 our health minister had a bad time because she orderer massive amount of tests, masks, and hydro-alcoolic solutions. It was during SRAS, and at the time for 'nothing'.

All those item were needed 3 weeks ago, but the stock were never fully replenish since. Most of those things are perishable.

WTF.

The village I grew up in is roughly 1000 years old.

The wall around it are 800 years old.

Mall strip in the US depress me very much.

Indeed. I can see your marketplace view, But if you see 3 ads in a row that you know are a bad deal for you or are just not great in term of timing. You could still read the ads on the handyman site.

In Uber world, you get banned of the site.

> In addition, if the driver has declined more than three rides, Uber may temporarily disconnect the driver from its application

I think you missed the part about subordination. Yes, you could have a service like Uber where you are still your own boss. ( Curb, for instance, is the response from the traditional taxi drivers )

But in the case of Uber, I tends to agree that they get away with a lot of subordination, without giving away work contract.
