yes because it's absolutely ridiculous, but because he's a well-known economist everyone listened to him and now we're in dire straits.

Maybe you're right, But that's not Anthropic's point and you're deflecting the issue. the issue is Anthropic are a bunch of EA morons who think they're building a new type of conscious entity and therefore we should not hurt it's feefees.. for god's sake.

You know "who" could implement all those feature in a new harness? Claude! So why don't you ask it to do it, open-source it, and let all of us bask in the brilliance of you multi-tasking agent?
Re:Reasons to Dislike AI Coding
on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @06:24AM (#49990769)
I don't even think code can be art. It can be used to produce art, but it's not art itself. And the production of code can be, at most, a craft, which the output is not really art, like painting/a painting.

dude, yes some countries in the EU are "trying" to include backdoors, and e2ee chats are not going away. Meanwhile in the US, you have literally cameras watching everywhere you move, snitching to the police and Palantir and probably all the other 3 letter institutions, and you complain about privacy rights in the EU? With so many other stuff you could have pointed out? lol, rofl even

The thing is, for how long? Are they going to keep giving you "so much intelligence" for a "small" subscription dollar amount? When they really, for real, need to start making money to cover their costs, what do you think it's going to happen? Suddenly you will start having tasks that a "good enough" model is going to be fine.

Most private construction is dedicated to luxury condos because that's where the big money is. If you let the "market" decide on its own it will always decide on the most profitable items, even if that's not what is needed.

Re:US interest rates raised for first time in three years
on Thursday September 17, 2026 @06:38AM (#49738831)
This wont do absolutely nothing whatsoever to bring down inflation. Interest rates don't open the Straight of Hormuz, don't increase production of oil or any other commodities.
the only way interest rates affect anything is when they meaningfully decrease investment, consumption, in other words a recession or depression.
Re:OpenAI expands ChatGPT ads with Sponsored Agents

They probably have the most amount of private amount of information about "you". Ads is a logical step for them, since subscriptions, at the current price, don't pay for the costs.

Re:216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @03:46AM (#49606929)
I've just looked at the terms of service and privacy terms on an "old" C1 Oled, and it's "disgusting" the amount of spying they want to do. Turned everything off except for the minimum required to play Youtube on the tv. What a pos of a company. And yes I know (almost?) all of them are doing something similar

on Monday September 07, 2026 @09:41AM (#49598348)
That's great that you know how to do that, but LG and others know that also. They don't care that a miniscule amount of ppl can do it, they care about the 99.9999% that don't. Thid should be dealt with legislation and very high fees, sufficient to discourage anyone to do it.

Well that's it. No more LG stuff for me. I bought the C1 OLED TV years ago, great TV, but with this BS, they lost me forever.
And yes I connect the tv the wifi for YouTube and for my local media server. No, I do not want other intermediate devices , I want my TV to not spy on me.

Re:Iceland rejects reopening talks on EU entry
on Sunday August 30, 2026 @12:55PM (#49500389)
Adopting the Euro is the worst part of what joining the EU would entail. While it may have some convenience benefits, and is perhaps less inflationary, it removes one of the fundamentals of the what a government is there for: monetary sovereignty. You can no longer define your budgetary limits,m, you are always being pressured for austerity because the (mostly) Germans don't understand money, and so it is a constant struggle to get anything for the people done. What you get is a constant "management"-style government, barely scraping by..
